Leo Robinson was 1 of 7 Children Murdered by a Parent
Four-year-old Leo Robinson was shot and killed by his father in a murder-suicide on October 18, 2023. Leo’s mother,
Aubree Robinson, lived in Dublin, Ohio, and was working with ODVN member program Turning Point. She had a
shared parenting plan with his abusive father, who had Leo every other week. On Sept. 13 Leo’s father took him
to Virginia, and refused to bring him home. The father falsely alleged that Aubree had physically abused Leo,
but a judge in Virginia dismissed the allegations as false and ordered Leo to be returned to his mother. Aubree
tried without success to get police in Virginia to enforce the judge’s order. But the father did not return the child,
choosing instead to fatally shoot his son and then himself.

“His Death was Preventable”

“My son was very intelligent, strong, empathetic, happy, loving, and was an amazing little boy. Notice how I
say was, instead of is. I should be able to say that very small two letter word... is. Was, seems like a huge word in
comparison because of what it represents. The reason I should be able to say that small two letter word is because
his death was preventable.”

“I talked to police, prosecutors, lawyers, judges and pleaded that they help me on multiple occasions. I was upset
so I was told to calm down. I was calm and I was told that I was too calm. I was told that’s why they didn’t take me
seriously. I felt like no matter what I said, no matter what proof I showed them I was not going to be heard.”

“I had proof that I was telling the truth and my son needed to be saved from his father. All I wanted to do was
protect my baby and not be abused by my son’s father. I was forced to co-parent with my abuser and he killed my
son. I should have been allowed to protect my son.”
- Aubree Robinson, Leo’s mom
