Materials/resources: song and animation, video, students` notebooks, coloured pencils, games

Aims of the lesson: - to reinforce the names of animals by using `there is/there is not’
- to consolidate the knowledge about wild animals
- search for specific information in the text
Affective aims: - to create a warm atmosphere
- to make students confident when using English
Skills: listening, speaking, reading, writing
Specific Competences:
By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
1.1 : identify the overall meaning of a text remember names of animals and discover new ones
2.4: make short sentences about an animal
O4: recall the form and spelling the names of animals
Interaction: T-Ss, S-S, pair work
Teaching Techniques: brainstorming, conversation, choral speaking, Bingo game
Methods of teaching: Communicative Approach
Teaching aids: textbook, notebooks, whiteboard, worksheet
Assumption: I assume that students are familiar with the topic and eager to learn more.
Anticipated problems: Some of the students may be noisy. The level of language of some is low
so they may not participate in the activity as expected.
Assessment: formative, oral, homework, systematic observation

Stages of the lesson

Warm-up
Aims:
- to check attendance and make sure the conditions are proper to start the lesson
- to check previously taught items and the homework

PROCEDURE INTERACTION TIMING


T greets the class and marks
the absent Ss, if any. T-Ss
T checks the homework Ss-T 5 minutes
orally and encourages the Ss
to make the necessary
corrections. If necessary, T
will write the solution on the
board and discuss it with the
Ss.

Lead-in:
Aims:
- to introduce the new topic – vocabulary related to wild animals

Teacher aks students if they like animals and what kind of animals they know. Students try
to name as many animals as they can in 2 minutes.

PROCEDURE INTERACTION TIMING


T asks Ss to name wild
animals. Ss write down the T-Ss 5 minutes
animals in their notebboks.

Presentation
Aims:
- to review and consolidate Ss knowledge on wild animals
- to involve the Ss in the topic
PROCEDURE INTERACTION TIMING
T asks Ss to read the text at
page 65. T explains and
writes on the board words
when necessary. Then T T-Ss 10 minutes
invites the Ss to solve
exercise 2, to prove they
understood the text.

Practice
Aims:
- to practise the new vocabulary
PROCEDURE INTERACTION TIMING
Students have to group the animals into
two appropriate groups, farm animals or wild
animals. Draw the cards with the animals in the
appropriate group. Read the names of the
animals aloud. At the end press the check T-Ss
10 minutes
button! There is a surprise for the children at S-Ss
the end of the game.

Review and follow-up


Aims:
- to have fun using English

T invites the Ss to a BINGO T-Ss 10 minutes
game and explains the rules. S-Ss
She gives each student a card.
Then she invites a S to pick a
piece of paper and describe
the animal written there. The
child who completes a line
wins.

Ending the lesson:

Aim: - to motivate the Ss and allow the to epress their feelings freely

thei felt during the lesson by
drawing a smiling/sad face on
T-Ss
the worksheet. T sets the 5 minutes
homework, gives marks,
praises the Ss and dismisses
the class.
