A unique set of activities, meant to
produce a defined outcome within an
established time frame, using specific
allocation of resources. (Harvard
Business Review)
What is a Project Proposal?
A document that presents a logical process of solving a
problem.
Must Provides
 A detailed description of the problem,
 Intended plan of actions towards tackling the problem
 Budgetary requirement for implementation
Purpose: convince and individual or institution to fund
your project

Identify the problem
Tips to Generate community Problems
• Organizing focus group discussions,
• Listening to stories,
• Watching documentaries,
• Reading reports/newspapers,
• Thinking through our own life journey,
• Visualizing you community,
• Interview people,
• Engaging in deep conversations with people etc
Ideation for solutions
Ideation is brainstorming or thinking through to
generate or conceived project ideas that can solve
community problems
It can be done at individual bases or by a group/team
Project ideas should focus on addressing serious
socio-Developmental challenges (poverty,
unemployment, violence, Climate change etc)
 Quickly come up with possible solutions and chose 1
superior solution from among the list of solutions

Goal
The goal is statement which defines the purpose of the
project
 Use action words like: decrease, deliver, develop,
establish, improve, increase, produce
Example
The Goal of the Youth Development Fellowship 2024 is
to strengthen the leadership and entrepreneurial skills
of 200 youths to boost employability and contributes to
nation building.
Objective
What you plan to achieve by the end of the project
 Make your objectives SMART (Specific, Measurable,
Attainable, Realistic, and Time-bound statements.)
 Us action verbs like create, identify, promote, enhance,
increase, and develop.
EXAMPLE
 Raise 200 Transformational leaders by 2025
 To deliver 12 months counseling to 100 identified
Vulnerable Women to increase their mental health
Results
Outputs: These are immediate results obtained after
implementing an
activity.
Outcomes: Outcomes are the mid-term results which are not
observed
immediately but are felt after some time.
Impact: Impact is usually a long-term result and is often not
achieved
during the life cycle of the project. This section generally
describes the
overall results that the project is expected to accomplish.
Sustainability
Sustainability is your plan to keep the entire or and
aspect of the project running once implemented with
requiring more funding from the donor.
