Basic Geometry
Basic Geometry
A point is the basic shape of geometry. It has no direction and it is denoted by a dot (.)
LINE
A line is a collection of points and it has two ends. It can be extended from both opposite
ends
A B
RAY
A ray has only one end. It can be extended from one end
LINE SEGMENT B B
A line segment is a part of a line. It has no end, therefore, it can not be extended.

INTERSECTING LINES
If two lines intersect each other they are called intersecting lines and the point of meeting
is called a point of intersection (O)

CONCURRENT LINES
If three or more lines intersect each other or meet at the same point or called concurrent
lines and their point of intersection is called point of concurrency (O)
COLLINEAR POINTS
If two or more points lie in the same direction are called collinear points
NON-COLLINEAR POINTS
If two or more points do not lie in the same direction are called non-collinear points
If 2 lines never intersect each other at any point are called parallel lines
If 2 lines intersect each other at an angle of 90° are called perpendicular lines
TYPES OF TRIANGLE
EQUILATERAL TRIANGLE:
Three equal sides and angles
SCALENE TRIANGLE
No equal sides and angles
ISOSCELES TRIANGLE
Two equal sides and two equal angles
ANGLE
An angle is a union set of two rays or when two or more lines intersect each other, angle is
formed
TRANSVERSAL
Transversal is a line which intersects two or more parallel lines
