CITATION

 Refers to the act of giving credit to the original creator when


a write uses someone else’s work or ideas.
 A citation is provided when an author writes an essay or any
kind of written text, and they use information from a book,
article, or website.
 For most books, Citations are most commonly seen at the
end or paragraphs, sentences or at the Bibliography.
IN-TEXT CITATION

 An in-text citation is a quick way to show where the author


got information from while they are writing.
 Whenever the writer includes a fact, quote, or idea from
another source, they add a short references right in the text
of their paper.

TYPES OF CITATION / IN-TEXT CITATION

APA ( AMERICAN PSHYCOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION ) CITATION

 Is a style used for writing and citing sources, primarily in the


social sciences (economics, sociology, geography, psychology,
or physiology)

HOW TO DO IT:
For Books: Author’s Las Name, First Initial. (Year). Title of the Book.
Publisher.
For Articles: Author’s Las Name, First Initial. (Year). Title of Article.
Title of the Journal, Volume (Issue), Page Range. URL
In-Text Citation: Author - Year
MLA ( MODERN LANGUAGE ASSOCIATION ) CITATION

 Are commonly used in the field of liberal arts and humanities


( fine arts, music, philosophy, literature )

HOW TO DO IT: APA MLA


For Books: Author’s Las Name, First Name. Title of the Book.
Publisher, Year of Publication.
For Articles: Author’s Last Name, First Name. “Title of Article”. Title of
the Journal, vol. Number, no. Number, Year, pages. Database, DOI or
URL.
In-Text Citation: Author, Page

Author’s name Last name, Initial. Last name, First

Sentence case (but Title case:

 The author’s name appears in a parentheses along with the


rest of the information.
NARRATIVE CITATION

 The author’s name appears as part of the sentence, not in a


parentheses.
