Script for Social Science Role-

play On Elections In India


Scene 1
Electoral Constituencies

Narrator1: In the beginning there is the scene of electoral Constituencies.


These are the areas divided for the purpose of conducting
elections. The voters who live in in an area elect one
representative.

Narrator2: For Lok Sabha elections, the country is divided into 543
constituencies. The representative elected from each constituency is called a
Member of Parliament or an MP.

Narrator1: Similarly, each state is divided into a specific number of Assembly


constituencies. In this case, the elected representative is called the Member of
Legislative Assembly or an MLA.

Narrator2: Now let see what is the scene of beginning till the end of elections
in state government of Uttar Pradesh.

During narration the actors must act accordingly

Scene 2
Voter list

Narrator2: Here we can see some people carrying their important


Documents. The list of those who are eligible to vote is known as
Voter list.
Voter [1]: Sir, I wanted to make voter id card, here are my documents
Ration card , birth certificate, adhar card. I am 18.
Officer [1]: OK you will have to fill this form.

{the voter after filling the form }

Officer [1] : Here is your voter Id card.

Voter [1] : Thank you sir.


After this the scene of the officer will change and background nothing will be
there.
Narrator 2: We can also issue the voter id card online.

Voter[2]: Hi, Did you get your voter id card ?

Voter [1]: Yes, I went to the electoral constituencies and Got it.

Voter [2]: But I am not able to get it as I am busy with my studies and in
Government official places they take a very long time.

Voter [1]: If you are unable to go in government official place then you can
issue it online by filling a easy form . You will get the delievered directly to
your home.

Voter [2]: Thanks for the advice you made my job easier.

Scene 3
Nomination of Candidates

Narrator[1]: The next scene is the nomination of candidates.

[In the nomination office]

Candidate[1]:[entering] Dear sir I am desiring for


a ticket to contest in election. I am 27 years old
and my party symbol is clock and name is CPP-
Common People Party

Officer: Yes this all is okay but, do you have any criminal record
or a case going against you.

Candidate[1]: No sir definitely not.

Officer: ok fill this form and take your ticket.

Candidate[2]: Dear sir I want to contest in the

Officer: Do you have any criminal records?

Candidate[2]: No there is no criminal record registered on my name.

Officer: Ok first tell me your age and name.

Candidate [3]: There’s no need for my name and other formalities


Just give me my ticket and here’s your money.
Officer: You are giving me bribe.

Candidate [3]: You just give me my ticket!

Officer: Security take this candidate to the police station.

With every candidate their party ministers would come in the office during the
ticket taking.

During Narration part the

Scene 4
Election Campaigns

Narrator1: After taking the tickets the candidates run their campaigns in which
Promises to the citizens about what changes they will make after
Being elected.

Anchor[1]: On this lucky day we have among with us the Party president of
Lok Seva Party. I would like to invite them to speak some
words about their vision. Give them a big round of applause.

Candidate [1]: As per your speech and at last your slogan.

Anchor [2]: On this lucky day we have among with us the Party president of
CPP- Common People Party.I would Like to invite them to speak

Scene 5
Polling and Counting of Votes

Narrator 2: The final stage of an election is the day when the voters cast or
“poll” their vote. That day is usually called the election day.

Narrator2: Every person whose name is on the voters’ list can go to a nearby
‘polling booth’, situated usually in a local school or a government office.

Narrator3: Once the voter goes inside the booth, the election officials identify
her/him, put a mark on her finger and allow her to cast her vote.

Narrator3: An agent of each candidate is allowed to sit inside the polling booth
and ensure that the voting takes place in a fair way.

While this narration is being narrated the actors must

Scene 6
Oath Ceremony

Narrator1: When the election results are declared the Rulling party’s
President is taking a oath for a chief minister.Here the
LSP won .

faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India as by law
established, that I will uphold the sovereignty and integrity of India,
that I will faithfully and conscientiously discharge my duties as a

or favour, affection or ill-will.

Narrator 1: Now the Chief Minister will be in power till the next
election that is 5 years. But if he is caught doing something
illegal and not for the people then he will be thrown out of
power.
