The proposed superblock is located at Bancal-Taal composed of Residential and Industrial land-uses which
is bounded by 1 Major Road, Bulacan Street, and 2 Minor roads, Taal and Bancal-Taal street.
The key considerations of selecting the Site Location are the:
• Accessibility to the proposed New Manila International Airport
• Accessibility to boost the Economic Development and Tourism within the area.
The residential area within the superblock will provide:
• Housing options for the growing population
While the industrial area will:
• Attract businesses and promote job opportunities.
*The proximity to the major road and two minor roads will ensure easy access for residents and businesses
alike.
Being close to the planned New Manila International Airport would:
• Help improve connectivity and draw tourists.

Malolos got its name from a misunderstanding between Spanish missionaries and the local natives.
The missionaries, searching for inhabited places along the Calumpit River, asked the natives for the name
of their settlement. Since the natives did not understand Spanish, they described the river's flow as
"paluslos," meaning "downwards" in Tagalog. The Spaniards pronounced it as "Malolos," which eventually
became the town's name. Over time, the settlement grew into a town after clearing forests and increasing
its population. The majority of the residents were Tagalog, led by prominent families like the Gatsalians
(Gatchalian) and the Manahans.
The Key Characteristics of the superblock located at Barangay Taal, Niugan, and Bangkal are:
I. Historical Significance: Malolos City's historical significance lies in its role as the site of the First
Philippine Republic and the Malolos Constitution. It has been designated as a National Historical
Landmark and Heritage Town, underscoring the importance of preserving this heritage to educate
future generations about the nation's fight for independence.

i. First Philippine Republic: Malolos is famously known as the "Cradle of the Philippine
Republic" This marked the Philippines' declaration of independence from Spanish colonial
rule.
ii. Malolos Constitution: known as the "Constitución Política de Malolos." enacted on
January 21, 1899, established the framework for the First Philippine Republic.
iii. Independence Struggle: The city was a hub of political and military activities during these
critical moments in Philippine history.
iv. Cultural Heritage: Malolos boasts a wealth of tangible and intangible cultural heritage,
including historic structures which are enduring symbols of the city's historical importance.

local policies, infrastructure projects, and community initiatives.

a stake in economic growth, job creation, and business regulations.
IV. Educational Institutions: Educational institutions like Centro Escolar University Malolos are vital
stakeholders in the city's education and research sector.

sustainable development in the city and neighboring areas. This approach not only
honors the past but also sets the stage for a prosperous and culturally vibrant future for
the superblock and its vicinity.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a shared framework for


addressing global challenges, fostering cooperation, and promoting a more equitable,
sustainable, and prosperous world for current and future generations. Hence, the
proposed superblock considers and aims the following SDGs:
