General Introduction:
IELTS (Academic) Test-এর Writing Task 1-এ একটা গ্রাফের বর্ণ না করফে হয়। গ্রাে গুফ াফে অফনক ধরফনর েথ্য থ্াফক যা
ল খিেভাফব বর্ণ না করফে হয়। আপখন ককমন ককার করফবন ো খনভণ র করফে আপখন কেটু কু সঠিকভাফব গ্রাফে উপলিে েথ্য বর্ণ না
করফেন এবং কেটু কু খনভুণ ভাফব ল িফেন।
IELTS গ্রাফে সমফয়র সাফথ্ খকেু র পখরবেণ ন কেিাফনা হয় এবং আপনাফক পখরলিখে বুফে সঠিক ভাফব কসই পখরবেণ ন গুফ া েু ফ ধরফে

প্রফেযকটি পযারার কশফষ এক াইন গ্যাপ খেফবন যাফে examiner সহফজই বুেফে পাফরন।

1. Introduction
Introduction-এ প্রফে কেয়া statement-টি অবশযই paraphrase করফে হফব। অথ্ণ াৎ, প্রফে কেয়া statement-টি খনফজর শফব্দ
ল িফে হফব। Paraphrase করা যায় synonyms বযবহার কফর, অথ্বা parallel expressions বযবহার কফর (ফয phrase গুফ ার
অথ্ণ একই হয়)। Word order বা word class পখরবেণ ন কফরও paraphrase করা যায় (ফযমন, একটা verb-কক noun-এ change
করা, ইেযাখে)।

কেষ্টা করফবন এই পযারা ২০-২৫ শফব্দ ল িফে। Paraphrase করার একটি উোহরর্ আপনাফের কেিাই।

উত্তর মুিি করার কেষ্টা করফবন না। Examiner-কের অফনক বেফরর অখভজ্ঞো রফয়ফে যার েফ োরা মুিি করা উত্তর সহফজই
খেনফে পাফরন।

1. Introduction-এ প্রফে কেয়া statement-টি Paraphrase করফবন (খনফজর শফব্দ ল িফবন)।

2. Paraphrase করা যায় synonyms অথ্বা parallel expressions বযবহার কফর বা Word order বা word class পখরবেণ ন
কফর।
3. ২০-২৫ শফব্দ ল িফবন।
4. The graph shows/illustrates/details/displays/presents ইেযাখে শব্দ বযবহার করফে পাফরন।

2. Overview Statement
আপনার IELTS Writing Task 1-এর সবফেফয় গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অংশ হ আপনার overview statement. সখেয কথ্া ব ফে, ভাফ া কফর
আপনার overview statement না ল িফ ভাফ া বযান্ড ককার কপফে আপনার কষ্ট হফে পাফর।

'Overview Statement’ একটি পযারাগ্রাফে ল িফবন। এই একটি পযারাগ্রাফে প্রফে কেয়া গ্রাফের মূ কেন্ড গুফ া েু ফ ধরফবন। মূ
কেন্ড ব ফে গ্রাফে কেিাফনা main increase ও decrease point গুফ া খনফয় কথ্া ব ফবন, অথ্ণ াৎ কোফি পরার মে েথ্য গুফ া েু ফ
ধরফবন। Overview পযারা-ফে অখেখরক্ত details-এ যাওয়ার প্রফয়াজন কনই। Save the details for the body paragraphs.
কেষ্টা করফবন এই পযারাও ২০-২৫ শফব্দ ল িফে।

'Overview Statement’ ক িার সবফেফয় সহজ উপায় হ "Overall...", "In summary" অথ্বা “To summarise” শব্দগুফ া
খেফয় আপনার পযারাগ্রােটি শুরু করা। এফে কফর examiner-ও সহনে আপনার Overview Statement-টি িুফজ পাফবন। Writing
Task 1-এ আ াো কফর conclusion ক িা বাধযোমূ ক নয়।

Overview statement-টি হফ া সাধারর্ে আপনার Task 1 Writing-এর খিেীয় বাকয এবং এই sentence খেফয় আপখন গ্রাফের
সাধারর্ ধারর্াটা ক িার কেষ্টা করফবন।

Overview-তত কী তেখা উর্িত না?

- Overview-কে ককাফনা মোমে খেফবন না বা ককাফনা অনুমান (Inference) করফবন না
- ককাফনা Data উফেি করার েরকার কনই। Data খনফয় পফর body paragraph এ কথ্া ব ফবন

Overview-কে কী data mention করফবন ো খনভণ র কফর প্রফের গ্রােটি dynamic নাখক static তার উপনর।

Dynamic গ্রাফে সমফয়র সাফথ্ data কীভাফব পখরবেণ ন হফে ো কেিায়। Static গ্রাফে এক সময় ধফরই data কেিাফনা হয়।

যখন আপর্ন dynamic গ্রাতের বর্ি না করতেন তখন তখয়াে রাখতবন -
১। Data শুরু কথ্ফক কশষ পযণন্ত কেিফে ককমন?
২। In general, data কী ঊর্ধ্ণগ্ামী, খনম্নগ্ামী, োক্লক ওঠানামা কফর?
৩। General trend বাফে ককাফনা বড় difference আফে data-কে?
৪। Overall গ্রােটি increase করফে োক্লক decrease?
৫। ককান peak (high point) বা low point আফে?

যখন আপর্ন Static গ্রাতের বর্ি না করতেন তখন তখয়াে রাখতবন -

১। Highest আর lowest values কী?
২। কোফি পড়ার মে পাথ্ণ কয আফে ককাফনা?
৩। ককাফনা similarities আফে?
৪। ককাফনা বযখেক্রম আফে?

তকান special grammar মাথাতয় রাখা উর্িৎ?

Subordinate Clause বযবহার কফর Complex sentence তেখর করার কেষ্টা করুন। Complex sentences হফ া এমন sentences
কযগুফ াফে একটির কবখশ clause থ্াফক এবং effectively complex sentence ল িফ আমাফের marking criteria এর
grammatical range part-এ মাকণ েু ফে help হফব।

Subordinate clause তেখর করার সহজ উপায় হ েুফটা information খকেু শব্দ িারা সঠিকভাফব কযাগ্ করা, কযমন - ‘while’.
‘although’, ‘with’, ‘even though’, ‘whereas’ or ‘and’.

1. 'Overview Statement’ একটি পযারাগ্রাফে ল িফবন।

2. প্রফে কেয়া গ্রাফের কোফি পরার মে েথ্য গুফ া েু ফ ধরফবন।
3. অখেখরক্ত details-এ যাওয়ার প্রফয়াজন কনই। Inference কেওয়ার প্রফয়াজন কনই।
4. ২০-২৫ শফব্দ ল িফবন।
5. In summary, Overall, To summarise জােীয় শব্দ বযবহার কফর শুরু করফে পাফরন।

Example of Overview Statement:

The bar chart below shows the estimated oil production capacity of six countries, in millions of barrels per
day, from 1990 to 2010. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make
comparisons where relevant.

Overview Statement:
Overall, oil production capacity tended to increase during this 20-year period. The figures for the Saudi Arabia
were significantly higher than in the other countries, while production was lowest in Qatar.

3. Body Paragraph
Body Paragraph-এ আপখন গ্রাফের main feature গুফ া খনফয় আরও খবস্তাখরে আফ ােনা করফবন। আপনার পযারাগ্রােগুফ া
স্পষ্ট এবং কযৌলক্তক রািার কেষ্টা করফবন।
কয data আপখন েখবফে কেিফে পারফবন, কসটা কক ককাফনা feature এর under এ group করফবন এবং োর উপর খভলত্ত কফর
আপনার topic sentence-টি ল িফবন। এরপর গ্রাে কথ্ফক খনখেণ ষ্ট supporting detail খেফয় কস topic sentence কক support
করফবন।

Structure of Body Paragraphs:

Topic Sentence (First sentence of the paragraph)
Supporting details (Next 3-4 sentences of the paragraph)
Concluding remark (generally written in 1 sentence, not mandatory)

একটি Topic Sentence পুফরা পযরাগ্রাফের Idea কক েু ফ ধরফে সাহাযয কফর। Topic Sentence ক িার সমফয় ২টা েথ্য include
করফবন:
১। Paragraph-এর topic
২। Paragraph-এর central point
৩। Overview Statement-এর সাফথ্ যাফে idea খমফ এটা কিয়া রািফবন

After the topic sentence, you expand on the point with evidence and examples from the graph.
How to Write a Proper Topic Sentence:
The first step to developing your topic sentences is to make sure you have a strong overview statement
(similar to thesis statement). আমরা আফগ্ই কেফিখে একটা ভাফ া Overview Statement কীভাফব ল িফে হয়। Overview
statement পুফরা essay-এর purpose-টা েু ফ ধফর। Overview Statement-এর idea এর সাফথ্ relate কফর paragraph-এর
topic sentence-টা ল িফবন।

Example: From 1990 to 2010, there was a significant increase in oil production in the Saudi Arabia. In 1990,
just over 8 million barrels per day were produced and this rose steadily, reaching a peak of over 14 million
barrels per day in 2010. In contrast, the smallest producer was Qatar. Despite a slight increase in 2000,
production in Qatar remained relatively stable at less than 1 million barrels per day.

Body Paragraph- Yellow

উপফরর overview statement-টা আবার কেিফ কিয়া করফবন, এই topic sentence-টি overview statement-এর idea এর
সাফথ্ খম ফে। Overview Statement-এ ব া হফয়খে "The figures for the Saudi Arabia were significantly higher than
in the other countries." এবং এই প্রথ্ম paragraph-এর topic sentence-এ এই বাফকযর সাফথ্ই সামঞ্জসয বজাফয় করফি ব া
হফয়ফে "From 1990 to 2010, there was a significant increase in oil production in the Saudi Arabia".

এবার আখস body paragraph-এ।

Main Body Paragraph 1: একটি কযাফটগ্খরর change/overall change/overall pattern গুফ া খনফয় কথ্া ব ুন। Topic
sentence-কক support করার জনয গ্রাে কথ্ফক supporting details খনন।

Main Body Paragraph 2: খিেীয় কযাফটগ্খরর change/overall change/overall pattern গুফ া খনফয় কথ্া ব ুন এবং প্রথ্ম
কযাফটগ্খরর সাফথ্ খিেীয় কযাফটগ্খরর েু না করফে পাফরন যখে ো প্রফযাজয হয়। Topic sentence-কক support করার জনয গ্রাে
কথ্ফক supporting details খনন।

supporting details গ্রাে কথ্ফক কনয়া হফয়ফে। Topic sentence এ ব া হফয়খে oil production এ significant increase
হফয়খে এবং supporting details এ এটাফক support করা হফয়ফে এবং ব া হফয়ফে -

The other countries saw a slight rise in oil production over the period. The estimated figure for Iran in 1990
was over 3 million barrels per day, compared with around 2 million barrels in the other three countries.
Although production did not increase in 2000 in UAE, the amount of oil produced peaked in 2010 in Iran at
over 4 million barrels and at almost 4 million barrels in Iraq, Kuwait and UAE.
