Case Study: Inter Process Communication, JAVA-RMI and Video file Server _

ASSIGNMENT-2: Project Report Book (Hard Copy and Soft Copy)


Programming projects will focus on Java RMI and CORBA
Instructions:
• One project per student.
• Date of submission is within two weeks from the date of assignment given date.
• A report will be submitted as a handbook.
• You can implement each one of the questions using either RMI or CORBA.
You may select one problem per student from the following problems or you propose your own
problem but you've to get formal approval before putting any effort.

1. Distributed document Sharing and editing, like Google docs.


2. A multi-player real-time game, based on shooting, hunting for treasure, etc.
3. A distributed airline reservation system.
4. A low-latency distributed notification system. E.g., watch a whole bunch of RSS feeds and
send all subscribers an email when one is updated.
5. Online distributed chatting platform.
6. Simple distributed messenger system.
7. Implement any distributed financial transactions like the stock market, or ECX, for instance.
8. Web-based distributed students' registration system.
9. Distributed document tracking system like the one used by post services.
10. Distributed document management system for an academic department/unit.
11. Distributed students' grade submission and viewing system.
12. Distributed instructors' course progress follow-up system.
13. Distributed course content management system.
14. Distributed diploma issuance and management system.
15. Distributed vital events registration and management system.
16. A distributed gifts cards (souvenirs) delivery and management system.
17. A distributed meeting management and idea sharing system.
18. A distributed online training delivery and management system.
19. Distributed Hotel Management system.
