Creating Reports in Power BI


1. You are given an adidas sales dataset. Using Power Query Editor do the following: (1)
a. Delete the blank rows at the top of the dataset.
b. Set “Use First Row as Headers”
c. Create a new column Year using the invoice date (Using Add Custom Column)
i. Date. Year ([Invoice Date])
d. Create a new column Month using the invoice date (Using Columns from Examples)
e. Create a new column Day using the invoice date. (Using Columns from Examples)

3. Insert an appropriate chart to show the sales trend (Units Sold) over the entire period. In which
year sales are lower and what may be the reason of higher sales in the next year? (1)
4. Your dashboard/report should have slicers for Region, State, City and Product in addition to
Year/Date. (1)

5. To compare the sales (Total Sales) by Sales Method, insert an appropriate chart. Insert a slicer to
view the chart for 2020 and then for 2021 data. Analyze both years’ sales by Sales Method. (1)
6. Insert a pie-chart to show the Total Sales by Retailer. Extract the following information: (1)

Year Retailer with Sales Volume Retailer with Highest Sales Volume
Lowest Sales Sales
2020
2021
