7 Course Description
The course covers the material listed below. Chapters refer to the above mentioned textbook.

8 Class Discipline
It is our responsibility to provide students with excellent teaching and learning environment. We are
therefore asking you to respect both our responsibility to teach and the right of other students to learn.
Any action that disturbs your classmates or disrupts the online activities is unacceptable. Repeated
violations of the above rules may cause a student to be counted as absent for a lecture or a recitation.
2. There will be pop-up quizzes in some weeks, always be prepared. There will be no make-up
for any of those pop-up quizzes
3. The locations and assignment to the exam rooms will be announced before the exams.
4. During the exams, the use of mobile phones, cheat sheets and other electronic equipment like
calculators or computers are NOT allowed. Exams are closed book and closed notes exams.
5. If you cheat during an exam disciplinary actions will be undertaken. This ranges depending
on the severity from internal handling of this matter by the teacher or sending you to the
disciplinary committee.
6. Do not underestimate this course. It is advised that you study regularly every week next to
going to class and attend the recitation sessions. If you do not fully understand the material
you should make an appointment with your your instructor immediately after class.

10 General Suggestion
• Feel free to ask me questions in and out of class, especially during office hours.
• Remember that you do not have to be a math genius to be successful in this course. Regular
study habits are sufficient to get a decent grade.
• Studying out of class for this course should become a routine. Key to success in mathematics
is practice. Try to study in groups.
• GeoGebra and Desmos are useful softwares/websites to visualize many of the concepts we
discuss. Other software/apps/website may also be useful: Maple, Wolframe Alpha ... .
