Release Rotable
Path: Applications/Maintenance Control/Electronic Pending Shelf
Preconditions
Note: Licence required.
There is a licence for releasing rotables in Label Booking, Component-Tree Label Booking and
Electronic Pending Shelf. The licence is set by the AMOS System Administrator in Label Booking.
The purpose of the function Release Rotable is to release a rotable part into serviceable condition
again, as shown in the following examples:
a removed rotable was sent to Electronic Pending Shelf due to an aircraft failure. However, the
failure persists after the removal, so this specific rotable cannot be the cause of the failure and
maintenance control releases it back to service. It is marked "serviceable" again with a new label.
a serviceable rotable which was removed from an aircraft for cannibalization purposes - and was
automatically switched to the status "unserviceable" - has to be marked "serviceable" again and
gets a new label before installation in the grounded aircraft.
Basically, whenever a component is booked off the aircraft or also off a "Component-Tree" - even if it
is actually, physically serviceable - it is automatically marked as unserviceable by the system and
therefore must be released back to service before it can be used for installation again.
Note: When starting the "Release Repairable back to Service" process, the System now checks
whether the "Rotable to be released" really is "available" for this process or in contrast for example
has been sent out to "External Repair" (i.e. is on "Outgoing Location" in "Rotables Admin"). In the
latter case, a "Release back to Service" now is no longer possible.
In order to mark the rotable as serviceable again, the following steps need to be performed:
1) When working in Electronic Pending Shelf, select the rotable part to be released and click
Process selected Item.
2) When working in Label Booking or Component Tree Label Booking, load the currently
unserviceable label number.
3) Click Release Rotable which is on the bottom of the screen. The Receiving Dialog screen will pop
up.
4) Choose how the certificate number - Form 1, will be generated. You have three possibilities:
Cert awarding strategy
labelnonew
current
take the label number as certificate number
enter manually a new certificate number
use the old/current certificate number
5) Enter a serviceable label number manually or let the system generate a new one by right-clicking
and enter the current condition of the rotable for example "visually inspected".
Page 9
Electronic Pending Shelf
6) Click Continue Receipt and update, if applicable, the rotable data and requirements.
7) If there are any open modifications, a message will pop up asking if the system should show them,
giving you the option to report them back.
8) A message will pop up asking if a JAA/EASA Form One should be printed. A user with the licence
"Unprint JAA/EASA From 1" can set the status of the a printed JAA/EASA form to "not printed".
Unprint will appear in the dialogue box where you get the information that the Form 1 was already
printed.
Take also into consideration what happens actually whenever a rotable part is released:
The history will automatically be updated. Before the release, the rotable's last record in the
history was its removal from an aircraft and consequently its unserviceable condition. After the
release, the last record, voucher mode B1=Receiving Goods will say that the part is serviceable
and has been put back on store or installed in any other aircraft, in case of RISC - removed in
serviceable condition.
The rotable's data are updated, such as the condition is changed from US - unserviceable to
whatever code typed in for example: VI - visual inspected and the location is reassigned. This is
especially important for keeping the correct stock quantity for both, the home base and outstations
in the system.
Note: It is important that you have an address with Vendor Code 0 - zero in Address Administration
use for internal bookings. If you do not have an address with Vendor Code 0- zero it is IMPERATIVE
to define one.
