Throughout the history, a lot of races have come down to Morocco from too many places in the world. Their
particular customs, traditions and beliefs have influenced the Moroccan culture, giving it a unique multi-
cultural identity.
Concerning religion, Islam is the official religion of Morocco, but the coexistence with other religions is perfect
because the practices of non-Muslims are guaranteed by the constitution. Every day, the Muazzin announces
five calls to prayer. During the month of Ramadan, the Moroccans fast from sunrise to sunset. However, non-
Muslims can eat in certain restaurants, particularly in hotels.
Moroccan culture is also known for language diversity. Apart from classical Arabic: the language of
education, administration and media, the daily language in Morocco is the Moroccan Darija, Tamazight
(Berber) which is spoken in the Rif, the Atlas, and Souss, and the Hassani which is spoken in the south of
Morocco. Moreover, Most Moroccans speak French, and many speak Spanish and English.
As for the arts and crafts, the Moroccan artisans are known all over the world for their great handicraft works.
For example, the colourful and the beautiful pottery objects are very popular amongst the tourists. Also, the
lovely carpets and jewellery attract the attention of every visitor.
Finally, if you visit Morocco, the best place to start with is Marrakech because it has too many historical
monuments and it is the best destination for a lot of tourists.
