Trimble R2
GNSS RECEIVER Trimble Distributor Confidential
This configuration sheet lists all options available and explains the configuration logic and possible upgrade paths for the Trimble® R2 GNSS receiver.
The receiver ships as a Standard Firmware Configuration (Step 1). Configuration Levels (Step 2), Extended Hardware Warranty and Firmware
Maintenance (Step 3), and Individual Options (Step 4) are delivered electronically and are not allocated to a specific receiver at the time of purchase.
All Trimble R2 GNSS receiver hardware, configurations and options need to be ordered via the Trimble Store. The Trimble Virtual Warehouse is used
to allocate configurations and options to specific serial numbers, and to configure radio settings at the time of sale to end users. Trimble Installation
Manager provisions licensing information and radio settings to the receiver and updates to the latest firmware.

GNSS RECEIVER (A-LA-CARTE) Trimble Distributor Confidential
Configuration Level “A-La-Carte” is intended to be used in situations, such as tenders, where a specific receiver configuration is needed that deviates
from the three standard configuration levels “Sub-Meter”, “Sub-Foot”, or “Centimeter“.
This configuration sheet lists all Individual Options available for Configuration Level “A-La-Carte”.

FEATURE DESCRIPTIONS
Configuration Level Configuration Levels are pre-defined receiver option bundles with a particular end-user functionality in
mind. One configuration level has to be applied to a Trimble R2 GNSS receiver.
Sub-Meter mode The configuration level Sub-Meter mode provides basic GPS functionality for the Trimble R2. The receiver can track single
frequency GPS signals that are suitable to basic mapping and GIS workflows with minimal accuracy requirements (under
a meter). SBAS, VRS, and RTX corrections are compatible with Sub-Meter Mode, and a Trimble data collector can be
connected to the receiver with TerraFlex™ and TerraSync™, along with third party applications.
Sub-Foot mode The configuration level Sub-Foot mode is tailored towards users that want to operate a multi-constellation receiver for
higher accuracy mapping and GIS applications. In addition to the Sub-Meter functionality described above, the Sub-Foot
mode includes dual frequency, GLONASS, QZSS, BeiDou, Galileo, and a precision level of 10 cm horizontal/10 cm vertical.
Centimeter mode The configuration level Centimeter mode is tailored towards users that want to operate a multi-constellation receiver
with maximum accuracy for both survey and mapping and GIS applications. In addition to the Sub-Foot functionality
described above, the Sub-Foot mode includes a precision level of maximum horizontal and maximum vertical accuracy.
The Centimeter mode is compatible with Trimble Access™.
Configuration Level Upgrades Configuration level upgrades are available between configuration levels to increase the level of
functionality.

Warranty – Trimble R2 receiver In case of a lapse in Hardware Warranty, the receiver needs to be inspected by a Trimble Service Provider before Extended
Hardware 12 months, re-instatement Hardware Warranty can be re-instated. A dedicated Hardware Warranty Re-Instatement part number is available for
(stocking) purchase.
FEATURE DESCRIPTIONS
Individual Options In addition to the configuration levels described above there are several individual options available for
purchase to increase flexibility and to tailor the Trimble R2 functionality to meet the end-users needs.
Individual options can be added once a configuration level is applied to a receiver.
Dual Frequency Tracking The Dual Frequency Tracking option adds the second frequency to all GNSS satellite constellations activated on the single
frequency receiver. Dual Frequency is required for any RTK surveying capabilities.
QZSS The QZSS (Quasi-Zenith Satellite System) option adds satellite tracking of the Japanese QZSS system, which is a
complementary GNSS that increases the satellite availability in Japan's numerous urban canyons, where only satellites at
very high elevation can be seen. QZSS is also a satellite-based augmentation system (SBAS).
GLONASS The GLONASS option adds GLONASS satellite signal tracking for additional signal processing in RTK, and post-processed
applications, reducing initialization and occupation times. The addition of GLONASS tracking improves the availability of
satellite signals in harsh environments. Single Frequency tracking includes the L1-C/A signal. With the Dual Frequency
tracking option, GLONASS signals include L2-C/A.
BeiDou The BeiDou option adds BeiDou satellite signal tracking for additional signal processing in RTK, and post-processed
applications, reducing initialization and occupation times. The addition of BeiDou tracking improves the availability of
satellite signals in harsh environments. Single Frequency tracking includes the B1 signal. With the Dual Frequency tracking
option, BeiDou signals include B2.
Galileo The Galileo option will add Galileo satellite signal tracking for additional signal processing in RTK, and post-processed
applications, reducing initialization and occupation times. The addition of Galileo tracking improves the availability of
satellite signals in harsh environments. Single Frequency tracking includes the E1 signal. With the Dual Frequency tracking
option includes Galileo signal E5-AltBOC.
Precision level 10 cm/10 cm * The Precision level 10 cm/10 cm option increases the pre-configured precision level to 10 cm horizontal and 10 cm vertical
for applications where the maximum cm level positioning is not required (e.g. high precision GIS applications).
Precision level max/max * The Precision level max/max option upgrades a receiver to the maximum precision level needed for high precision, Survey
grade, applications.
NMEA outputs The NMEA option provides NMEA-0183 v2.30 standard messages for use with third party positioning applications. The
receiver allows configuration of multiple NMEA messages from one port, along with output of the messages at varying
update rates.
UHF Rx radio The UHF Rx radio option adds rover correction input (CMR/RTCM) via UHF radio in the 403 MHz to 473 MHz frequency
range.
Remove Geo-Fence Trimble R2 GNSS receivers sold into specific regions (e.g. China, Latin America) can't perform postprocessing or receive
corrections outside the defined geo-fenced area. The Remove Geo-Fence option removes those restrictions to allow
postprocessing or receive corrections world-wide without regional restrictions.
