Learning is a relatively lasting change in behavior that is the result of
experience. It is the acquisition of information, knowledge, and skills. When
you think of learning, it's easy to focus on formal education that takes place
during childhood and early adulthood. But learning is an ongoing process that
takes place throughout life and isn't confined to the classroom.
Behavioral Learning Theory
Passive absorption of a Behavioral learning theory, also known as behaviorism,
is a psychological framework that emphasizes the role
predefined body of of observable, measurable aspects of human behavior
knowledge by the learner.
According to behaviorism, all behaviors are acquired
Promoted by repetition through conditioning, which occurs through interaction
and positive with the environment. There are two main types of
conditioning that play a crucial role in this theory:
reinforcement. classical conditioning and operant conditioning.

Classical Conditioning: Classical conditioning is a learning process in which a


neutral stimulus is paired with another stimulus that naturally produces a
response

Operant conditioning: Operant conditioning, also known as instrumental


conditioning, is a method of learning that uses rewards and punishment to
modify behavior

Leaning Strategies
> People learn in diverse ways due to factors like genetics and life
experiences.
Cognitive Abilities
> Behavioral theories excel in situations with observable results (e.g.,
math tests). However, they struggle when success is harder to measure.
Open-ended Challenges
> Behavioral methods work well for skills like typing but falter when
students need unique ideas or interpretations (e.g., analyzing literature).
Continuing Education
> In nuanced areas like writing and analysis, cognitive approaches
surpass behaviorism
