Gaby Abou Haidar, Ph.D.

Instructor Biography
Dr. Gaby Abou Haidar is the Coordinator of the Faculty of Engineering – and
the I.T. Manager at the American University of Science and Technology -
AUST- Zahlé. He is a member of the IEEE Communications Society and a
member of the Order of Engineers and Architects –Lebanon. He is a CISCO
certified instructor in Routing and Switching Essentials and in CISCO Security.
Moreover, Dr. Abou Haidar is a holder of the MCSE - Microsoft Certified
System Engineer and the HCIA_AI Huawei Artificial Intelligence Instructor
Certificate. He teaches Digital Systems Lab, Circuit Analysis I Lab, Circuit
Analysis II Lab, Communications Systems Lab, Microprocessors Lab, Micro-
controller lab, Digital Communications Systems Lab, Control Systems Lab,
Electronics Lab, and Networking Lab. In addition, he teaches the Digital
Communications, Embedded Systems, Virtual Instrumentation Systems,
Computer Networking , and Advanced Computer Networking courses. His
Research interests are in Digital Communications, Networking, Fractional
Calculus, Embedded Systems, Control systems, Machine Learning, and Neural
Networks.

Course Objectives
 This course adds to the knowledge acquired in CSI345 and covers advanced networking topics such as:
Virtual LANs, Spanning Tree Protocol , advanced interior routing protocols such as EIGRP and OSPF , WAN
protocols such as PPP and Frame Relay , securing your network with Access Control Lists…

 Students who successfully complete this course at AUST will earn automatically the CISCO-ICND1 Academic Certificate.

CISCO Account and Packet Tracer


Step by step procedure:

1- Activate your AUST email


2- You will receive an email from CISCO, follow the steps and create your CISCO account.
3- Make sure to save your password
4- In your account, you will find yourself registered in the CISCO (ITN) class
5- Inside the class link you can access your course materials, do the chapter exams, and do the final
course and lab exams.
6- From the student recourses, download Packet Tracer (latest version). This will be the networking
simulator that we will use in the lab session
