UNIT 1 SUBMISSION

1. An e-commerce requires various types of data, such as:

- Product Listings:Images, descriptions, specifications, and prices.

- Customer Data: Personal information (names, addresses, payment details).

- Transactional Data: Orders, invoices, payment details, shipping statuses, and returns.

Storage requirements will depend on how large the business is and how many customers the
business expects. However, as the business expands, the storage solution must be able to
accommodate thousands of product listings, high-resolution product images, and growing amounts
of customer data.

2. Role of Secondary Storage Devices

Secondary storage devices, which include hard disk drives (HDDs), solid-state drives (SSDs), and
cloud-based storage, are essential for ensuring data persistence and business continuity.

3. Types of Software Needed for the E-Commerce Business

Running an e-commerce business requires a combination of system, application, and embedded

software. Each type of software serves a unique purpose and helps streamline the business.

2. Capacity

As the business grows, the storage requirements will expand significantly. High-resolution images for
products, detailed descriptions, and customer data can quickly accumulate. Planning for future
growth by selecting scalable solutions, such as cloud storage or modular storage arrays for on-
premise systems, will be essential.
3.Software Selection

Selecting the right software involves balancing cost, scalability, and functionality. Choosing an overly
complex system might overwhelm the small business, while underpowered software may not meet
long-term needs.
