CLASS XI

Q1. The mean height of 25 male workers in a factory is 61 inches and the mean height of 35 female
workers in the same factory is 58 inches. Find the combined mean height of 60 workers in the factory.

Q2. The mean weight of 150 students in a class is 60 kg. The mean weight of boys in the class is 70 Kgs and
that of the girls is 55 kg. Find the number of boys and girls in the class.

Q3. The mean of 100 observations was found to be 40. Later on, it was discovered that two items were
wrongly taken as 30 and 27 instead of 3 and 72. Find the correct mean.

Q4. The average height of group of 40 students was calculated to be 155 cm. If it was later discovered that
the height of one student was read as 157 instead of 137 cm. calculate the correct average height. Also
find the correct average height if this child left the group.

Q5. The average marks of 30 students in a class were 52. The top 6 students had an average of 31. What
were the average marks of other students?

Q6. A candidate obtained the following percentage of marks in an examination for the respective subjects:
English 70, Business Studies 75, Maths 63, Accounts 59, Economics 55. Find the candidate’s weighted
Arithmetic mean if the weights were 1,2,1,3,3 respectively.

Q7. The average age of 20 students in a class is 16 years. One student whose age is 18 years has left the
class. Find out the average age of rest of the students.

Q8. Given Mean is 50, find the missing frequencies f1 and f2 in the given table:

Class 0-20 20-40 40-60 60-80 80-100 Total

Frequency 17 f1 32 f2 19 120

Q9. The algebraic sum of deviations of a frequency distribution from its mean is ____________.

Q10. Mean of 10 observations is found to be 22. Find new mean if each observation is

a) Multiplied by 3 b) Divided by 3 c) Added by 3 d) Subtracted by 3

Q11. Arithmetic Mean of x, x+3, x+6, x+9, and x+12 is 10. Find x
