Role and benefit of a Teacher as a Social Worker

“Listen to Understand, speak to be Understood, Educate to Improve, Touch to Create a

Beautiful Tomorrow”, from these taglines alone you can see why is teaching is not only a job but
also it is a profession. It may be a hard task for us teachers to be flexible at all times but it is a
must for the betterment of the generation and the up comings also. Societal needs are a must
especially nowadays. Evaluating physical, mental and emotional health and ensuring that
children/youths have access to resources, information and opportunities that may improve the
quality of life is a must. Assessing various aspects including living environments, relationships
and socioeconomic status, in order to provide adequate access and care is a must. These are just
some of the roles of a teacher as a social worker in the community.

The benefit of teaching is that you are creating new knowledge not only to yourself but
also to the youths and these creates a deep satisfaction on my part as a teacher. The
encouragement I did to my students in order to succeed means that they are trusting me and that
is a feeling like none other. Encouraging them to think outside the box and making them a
lifelong learner and making them reach their full potential can make a lasting impact to them and
that impact is I am changing their lives and these power to change lives is the best benefit of
becoming a teacher. It may be hard for me as a teacher to take this role especially when the group
of learners are diverse but the fun part is that I get to learn from each of them and I can create
strategies that you can use for the future. What is fulfilling about my job is that I bring a sense of
purpose and fulfillments that few others can match. Another fulfilling about my job is that the
sheer joy of being surrounded by my students especially when you see their creativity, passion in
learning, and their energy are contagious and it inspires and fueled me to keep and love my job
even if it is hard.
