Part 1. Barangay Analysis
Introduction
One of the barangays in the municipality of Daet, Camarines Norte is Barangay
Calasgasan. It is the largest barangay in Daet with a land area of 843.3 hectares. The main
purpose and objectives of this analysis is to know the problems or gaps in the barangay and
make a proper suggestions to resolve that problem.
Geographic and Demographic Information
Barangay Calasgasan is situated at approximately 14.0856, 122.9362 in the island of
Luzon. Calasgasan land area is 844.3 hectares and shares a common border with Barangay
Mancruz, Matnog in Basud, Daculang Bolo in San Lorenzo Ruiz, Laniton in San Lorenzo
Ruiz, Magang in Daet and and Bibirao.
Population
The total population of Barangay Calasgasan based on the survey of December 2023
are indicated below.

crop also it is rich in agricultural products. In terms of tourism, there’s a different resort, one
of the main resort in Calasgasan is the Pineapple Resort which is good and safe.
Base on LGU Daet last 2017, out of 525 hosuseholds there are 180 household with income
below poverty threshold, there are 723 employed members and 33 unemployed members of
the labor force.
There is a lot of responsibility on the part of these recently elected people in the
barangay, and I have noticed changes since their election. They provide reliable and truthful
service. Their quick and easy service assists people in needs right now. This is extremely
important for maintaining the peace in the barangay since they carefully consider their options
and don’t automatically act when there are questionable persons.
Infrastructure and Utilities
Barangay Calasgasan started fixing road which is important to all rider and driver to
make sure their safety. In public transportation, MACATODA is the organization in
transportation which is important in commuters. MACATODA has a sufficient drivers to
perform a service without hassle in commuters. The fare price is P25 and there is a 20%
discount in students and senior citizen. In networks, there’s a good signal like DITO and
Globe telecom to all devices but some networks like SMART are not reachable.
The Water District and CANORECO is the sources of electricity and water, this two
make sure that their service is clean and safe to make all consumers feel satisfied. Also they
give an update and advisory about their operation that benefits the all consumers to stay
updated. In waste management, there’s a garbage truck who are collecting all waste in 2 times
a week to keep the Barangay clean.
Social Services
Barangay Calasgasan has a day care center and an elementary school, and all facilities
are enough to ensure that all kids feel comfortable. All of the teachers are licensed and have
prior teaching experience. They also have a private school called the Zion Christian Academic
Foundation, as well as a senior and junior high school. Calasgasan has one health center,
located at Purok 4, that is open every weekday. .
6
Gaps
The lack of safety when Calasgasan Elementary School pupils were walking to and
from school, as there was no suitable and safe pathway for the children to walk on. The lack
of Purok security, including street lights and CCTV, has resulted in several incidences of theft
in various puroks, making it unsafe for residents at night, there are no curfew hours, and
Barangay Tanod lacks security.
Environmental Factors
The barangay has a sufficient number of trees and plants, which allows people to
breathe fresh air and aids in the production of herbal medicines. However, one of the
problems of the barangay is the correct wage disposal due to a lack of discipline, which is one
of the reasons why the barangay is easily flooded when there is a storm. And all barangay
officials are conducting clean up drive. There is also a permanent garbage pickup service from
various puroks.
Community Participation Affairs
All barangay officials work together in their roles, which is essential to the country’s
peace. Officials plan and decide what they should accomplish as officials, such as arranging
roadways in their districts. And there is order among the citizens to maintain a suitable level
of citizenship.
SWOT analysis
Strength
The active barangay official service and officers unity.
Weaknesses
The Barangay has a lack of security, which is not good to our residents.
Opportunities
Enforce the rules and regulations of the community and public safety.
Threats
There is a lack of CCTV, lights, and no barangay tanod to monitor the
community at night.
Conclusion and Recommendation
The profile of Barangay Calasgasan shows a agricultural sector with coconut
plantation and a seed farm contributing significantly to income. Infrastructure improvement
like road repairs and organized transportation will benefit residents. Utilities like water and
electricity are reliable. Social services includes schools and health center and waste
management. The main problem I’ve see in this analysis isa the lack of safety and security
including lack of CCTV and Street lights. I choose to address this problem for the safety of
the residents and for the peace also. My goal is to install a street lights and CCTV in every
streets.
