1) Calculate the electrode potential of Zn electrode containing 0.02 M ZnSO4 solution at


298 K given EOZn |Zn = −0.76 V .

at 298 K given ECu2+ |Cu = +0.34 V .

3) A metal electrode M|MNO3(aq) is coupled with standard hydrogen electrode, the emf
of the cell is found to be 0.80 V. The metal electrode being positive, calculate the
electrode potential of the metal electrode.

4) Fe displaces hydrogen from sulphuric acid and while silver doesn’t. The emf of a cell
prepared by coupling Fe|Fe2+ and Ag|Ag+ has an emf of 1.24 V. Given EOAg |Ag = +0.80 V , +

calculate the SRP of Fe electrode.

5) Calculate the electrode potential of hydrogen electrode containing hydrochloric acid


solution of pH = 2.2.

6) A Galvanic cell containing Zn electrode with the concentration of Zn2+ ions as 0.24 M
is coupled with hydrogen electrode having H+ ion concentration 1.6 M and the
pressure of the hydrogen gas as 1.8 bar. Calculate the emf of the cell at 298 K given
EOZn |Zn = −0.76 V and that of hydrogen electrode is 0.0 V. Represent the cell
