Ramesh, Babu, and Rao (2018) explore the impact of project management practices on

the success of various projects in the Warangal region. The research aimed to address three main

objectives: to identify the role of feasibility studies in project success, to evaluate how planning

does or does not contribute to the success of a project, and; most importantly to analyze the

connection between human resource management and project success. Data for this study was

collected from 100 respondents only and the research instrument used was structured

questionnaires for the assessment of project management factors namely, feasibility, planning

and Human Resource Management.

These factors were assessed by the authors based on the regression and correlation

analysis in establishing the relationship with project success. They also found that feasibility

studies, planning activities, and HRM being the three independent variables were positively

related and significantly related with the dependent variable which was project success.

Therefore, while adopting the strategic HRM the study highlighted the fact that those projects

which are characterized by feasibility analysis, proper planning and control, are more likely to

achieve their aims and objectives, stay within the project budget and complete the work on time.

A key scenario outlined in the article describes a construction project that faced

difficulties due to poor initial planning and inadequate resource management. The examples of

social problems that are illustrated by the project team are schedule-related difficulties and

scarcity of resources that put the project at risk. The project team was able to attain the success

by readjusting time line even though the feasibility of the set goals within the project was
3

reanalyzed and the resources were properly rationed. This case shows why and how feasibility

analyses and effective resource adaptation are crucial in addressing concerns that emerge in the

implementation phase.

Feasibility studies, as discussed in the article, are critical in determining whether a project

is technically and economically viable before committing resources. In such a manner, things

like the technical requirements, costs, and benefits, as well as the feasibility of operations may

guide the project managers in either proceeding with the project in question or otherwise out

rightly finding better suited projects to invest on. At the same time, the study reveals that while

this planning phase is rather fundamental in the process of work, failures to incorporate it,

increases the likelihood of emerging problems and results in delays and cost control issues.

In terms of planning activities, the article highlights how careful scheduling, task

allocation, and timeline management are vital to keeping projects on track. The planning enables

teams to identify all the actions that can be needed to accomplish the set goals while at the same

time checking for barriers that may make it difficult to accomplish the plans. This was dosage as

the study established that projects that were to be accomplished had better planned and

programmed their schedules when contrasted to these projects that were not well planned.

HRM was another important factor identified in the study. Hence, the article under

discussion is devoted to the realization of the fact that human resource management requires

much more than the distribution of responsibilities among the individuals that make up a team. It

involves proper staffing to subordinates and following procedures of hiring and training them, as

well as encouraging teamwork and general information sharing. The authors were also able to

determine that firms with well implemented HRM practices were able to better cope with the
4

hardships and deliver on promises in terms of time. This realization accentuates the need to have

competent and well managed teams as defined by the dynamics of the projects.

Lessons Learned from the Article

Feasibility Studies Lead to Greater Project Success

The article underscores the importance of conducting feasibility studies to assess the

viability of projects. Through awareness of technical, operational and economic issues at play in

a project, the project teams are in a better position to see possible problems and find ways of

handling them. This lesson made me understand why it is important to plan in advance for a

project since such planning will help in determining if the goals developed in a project will be

sustainable in the long-run.

Human Resource Management is Key to Project Success

The other important lesson from the article is the involvement of HRM to the success of

projects. So staffing, training and communication with the team members have a very important

place in order to successfully complete the project within time and cost constraints. This brought

another perspective in terms of how important human resource is in any project back to the

center.

Lessons Learned from the Class Lecture

The Role of Risk Management

From the class lecture, I learned about the importance of risk management in project

planning. Managing risks means that all probable setbacks are first anticipated, thus making it

possible for a project to go on with effectiveness and efficiency without being hampered. This
5

lesson relates to the article’s key focus on feasibility studies because the assessment of risks at

the planning phase enhances the probability of project success.

Team Collaboration and Communication

The class lecture also covered the importance of clear communication and collaboration

among team members. The communication process helps to keep all the involved parties

informed of the project objectives and hence minimize chances of developing the wrong

strategies or assumptions. This lesson supports the content of the article as the HRM crucial

skills involve interpersonal skills and the ability to manage a team.
