Project Management Assignment 2

Based on your incredible success in managing the market research project, you have been
selected to be the project manager of a business analysis project requested by System360
company to test the market for launching a novel payment solution. You managed to the moment
to breakdown the activities of the initial phase of the project and collected data about their
estimated durations. Construct a network activity diagram based on the following information.

Activity Description Predecessor O M P ET (days)

A Identify stakeholders None 2 4 6
Plan business analysis
B None 3 5 7
process
C Define scope of project A, B 6 8 16 9
Elicit requirements with
D C 8 14 20 14
stakeholders
E Validate the requirements D 6 13 14 12
F Analyse requirements E 7 8 15 9
G Prioritise requirements E 5 10 15 10
H Create finalised document F, G 6 10 14 10

A. Conduct both a forward and backward pass using AON notation. What is the estimated total
duration for the project?
B. Identify the critical path?
C. Which activities have slack time, and how much the slack is for every activity?
D. Given the activity variances, what is the likelihood of the project finishing on day 64?
E. Suppose you wanted to have a 99% confidence in the project finishing on time. How many
additional days would your project team need to negotiate for in order to gain this 99%
likelihood?
After presenting the project plan to the top management, the operations director has clarified that
the project schedule includes several serial activities that can be completed in parallel and reduce
the total project duration. The analysis and programming director agreed on the comments of the
operations director and added that some activities can also be crashed and still reduce the total
project cost. The implication of such change to the plan as they clarified is to reduce the expected
project time and budget, and thus allow more efficient use of resources. The top management has
got totally convinced and advised you to replan the project according to the following updated
data.

backward pass using AOA notation. What is the estimated total project duration after
amending the dependencies between the activities?

B. Identify the critical path?

C. If the indirect cost per week is $300, what is the estimated total cost for the project?

D. Calculate the crashing limit and cost slope for activities A and B?

E. Find the optimal crashed project completion time?
