Study plan

Since my infancy, I have been fascinated by the constantly changing world that we live in, wanting to
understand and explore the causes and effects of current and future human interactions. During my
teenage years, I started listening to the BBC World Service and reading internationally recognized
journals and magazines. That being said, I have decided to apply for a university in South Korea to
pursue my higher education. Chonnam National University is, in this sense, the one I am willing to do
accordingly based on English Language and Literature.

I have become convinced that a third level education relevant to linguistics would help me gain
knowledge that would allow me to pursue a wide range of possibilities. My current career ambition is to
find a suitable role (as a professional journalist) within an international organisation, such as the BBC
and UN, ideally with specific focus on assisting people who have been displaced due to civil unrest, war,
famine or other natural disaster.

In high school, my position as the only boy in my class has ensured that I have maintained a somewhat
independent approach to my studies. I have chosen a broad range of subjects for my final exams, not
only because I like challenges, but also because I believe I will obtain a lot of all-around knowledge and
skills from them: Mathematics and Physics have helped me understand the physical and abstract world
around me, while Russian and English have shown the beauty of literature, which has become a great
passion for me.

I look forward to the challenges and opportunities that studying at CNU in South Korea will present. I
value very greatly the chance to be a part of such a re-knowned institution as your university is, and I
believe that in some small way I may add to its whole, through my personality, work effort and
experiences to date. English Language and Literature in your university has been designed with the
prestigious academic experience at its core, your academic faculty’s expert knowledge and research in
each area, and the linkages between the university and the professional world.

Professors, in this university, are fully able to teach young ambitious individuals to build the proper skill
set to become professionals capable of facing real-world challenges.

Through your hands-on teaching methodology, I believe, I will be able to find the perfect ideal balance
between what is studied throughout my degree and the projects that are applied based on real-world
scenarios. This will aid me to develop profiles that are able to adapt to new trends happening now in the
21st century.

All in all, I am genuinely hopeful for meeting the requirements of your university and will start my
studies as of 2020 Fall semester.
