Here is the form and example of an exponential function..
The general form of an exponential function is f(x)= a*b^2. Where
the "a" represents the initial value, b for the base and x the exponent. In addition, the initial value serves as the starting amount of something before it is change. The value of the base decides the rate of growth or decay, and the exponent is a variable, generally time or a quantity, that affects the output of a function. Moving on to the properties of an exponential function, there are 2 basic properties, if the base is greater than 1 then the function express that it is growing, while if the base is greater than 0 but less than 1, it is an exponential decay.
Thanks ellard and Let me take it from here...
Now examples of real life applications of exponential functions. When we get the rate of increasing population which is an exponential growth. We use the formula f(x)=a(1+r)^2 in finding the rate of growth. Other examples of growth are gained interest from a savings account, spread of pandemic, and etc. Here is another example of a real life application, selling a product that you bought, reselling a bought item will have a decreased or lower value than the original price from how much time has pass when you resell it. Using the formula f(x)= a(1-r)^2 in finding the rate of decay. Other examples of decay are the depopulation, recovery of wounds/bruises and etc.
Moving on to exponential equation and inequality, which is an equation or
inequality where exponents are variables and we try to find the value of x. Say we have 2^2x-2 = 64. First we need to have the same base for exponents to become equal. Turning 64 to 2^6 to make it the same. Next step use the exponents, 2x-2 = 6,transpose like terms, then divide 2 to both sides, our final answer is x = 2. For inequality, same problem and processjust change the equation into a inequality. Turning our final answer to x > 2. We typically apply logarithm in solving exponential equations/inequality, taking the logarithm base 2 of both side. log2 64 = 2x-2 log2 2 then our answer would be 6 = 2x-2, which is the same as our answer from before, but let's leave logarithmic for another time since we won't be able to discuss it all here.
