- VERBS are words that show an action (sing), occurrence, knowledge

-ADJECTIVES are words belonging to one of the major


classes in any numerous languages and typically serving as a
modifier of a noun to denote a quality of the thing named, to
indicate its quantity or extent, or to specify a thing as distinct
from something else.

Ex.
Maria has a new dress.
(New is an adjective modifying the word dress which is noun)

Functions of an Adjective

An adjective modifies a noun; that is, it provides more detail


about a noun. This can be anything from color size to
temperature to personality. Adjectives usually occur just
before the nouns they modify.

Ex.

1. A strong immune system is necessary to fight viruses.

-Adjectives can also follow a linking verb. In these instances,


adjectives can modify pronouns as well.

>The schoolhouse was red.


>They are funny.

Adverb are words belonging to one of the major classes in


any numerous as a modifier of a verb, an adjective, another
adverb, a preposition, a phrase, a clause, a sentence,
expressing some relation of manner or quality, place, time,
degree, number, cause, opposition, affirmation, or denial, and
in English also serving to connect and to express comment on
clause conten.t

Ex.
Maria dances gracefully. (gracefully is an adverb modifying
the verb dances; it also explains how Maria dance)

G. Application: PERFORMANCE TASK

Activity 1: Composing a Song


Compose a short song lyric which tells the importance of equality or
respecting each other rights. Add a tone to your lyrics and present to the
class. Underline the verbs, adjectives, and adverbs used.

IV. EVALUATION:

Read and analyze the questions carefully. Write T if the


statement is TRUE about persuasive languages and write F if
the statement is FALSE about persuasive languages.

1. You can use a wide range of persussave language


techniques to persuade the reader to accept a specific
view point by using such techniques.
2. An “intentional response to verb” is a verb that expresses
an action or a state of an emotional or psychological
nature.
3. The words amuse, annoy, bafflee, bore, confuse,
depress, disapoint are examples of adjectives.
4. Adverbs modify nouns and pronouns. It’s how we know
the womwn was georgous or the sunset was glittering.
5. While adjetives provide further description for nouns,
adverbs add on to verbs.
