Parallel Plane Intersection If two parallel planes are cut by a third plane, then the lines of
Theorem 3.1 intersection are parallel.
Parallel iff Corresponding Two lines cut by a transversal are parallel if and only if corresponding
Angles Congruent angles are congruent.
Postulate 10/11
Parallel iff AIA Congruent Two lines cut by a transversal are parallel if and only if alternate
Theorem 3.2/3.5 interior angles are congruent.
Parallel iff SSI Two lines cut by a transversal are parallel if and only if same-side
Supplementary (consecutive) interior angles are supplementary.
Theorem 3.3/3.6
Perpendicular iff Parallel In a plane, two lines are perpendicular to the same line if and only if
Theorem 3.4/3.7 they are parallel to each other.
Unique Parallel Through a point outside a line, there is exactly one line parallel to the
Theorem 3.8 given line.
Unique Perpendicular Through a point outside a line, there is exactly one line perpendicular
Theorem 3.9 to the given line.
Transitivity of Parallels Two lines parallel to a third line are parallel to each other.
Theorem 3.10
Triangle Sum The sum of the measures of the angles of a triangle is 180º.
Theorem 3.11 • Corollary 1 – (3rd ∠ ≅) If two angles of one triangle are congruent
to two angles of another triangle, then the third angles are
congruent.
• Corollary 2 – (Equiangular Δ) Each angle of an equiangular
triangle has measure 60.
• Corollary 3 – (One Biggest Angle) In a triangle, there can be at
most one right angle or obtuse angle.
• Corollary 4 – (Right Δ Complementary) The acute angles of a
right triangle are complementary.
Exterior Angle The measure of an exterior angle of a triangle equals the sum of the
Theorem 3.12 measures of the two remote interior angles.
Polygon Sum The sum of the measures of the angles of a convex polygon with n
Theorem 3.13 sides is (n – 2)180.
Exterior Angle of a Polygon The sum of the measures of the exterior angles of any convex polygon,
Theorem 3.14 one angle at each vertex, is 360º.
