(The process of systematically planning, developing, evaluating and managing the instructional
process by using principles of teaching and learning - D.O. 42, s. 2016)

Detailed Lesson Plan (DLP) Format

Learning Area:
DLP No.: Grade Level: Quarter: Duration: Date:
6 Science 9 1 45 August 7, 2024
Learning Competency/ies: Code:
infer how one’s lifestyle can affect the functioning of
(Taken from the Curriculum Guide) respiratory and circulatory systems S9LT-lc-27
Key Concepts / Understandings to be Each time your heart beats, it delivers oxygen-rich blood to your body, which allows it to function
Developed properly. Your heart rate or pulse is the number of times your heart beats in a minute (BPM or beats per
minute). Shorter time intervals may be used in taking the pulse as long as it comes to 60 seconds upon
multiplying with a factor. When you are resting, your heart rate slows down, as your body does not need
as much blood as it does when you exercise.

Domain Adapted Cognitive

Process Dimensions OBJECTIVES:
(D.O. No. 8, s. 2015)

Knowledge Remembering
The fact or condition of knowing
something with familiarity gained
through experience or Understanding Explain how to use different time intervals to measure your heart rate
association

Skills Applying Measure and describe your pulse (heart rate) after several different activities
The ability and
capacity acquired through
deliberate, systematic, and Analyzing
sustained effort to smoothly and
adaptively carryout complex Evaluating
activities or the ability, coming
from one's knowledge, practice,
aptitude, etc., to do something Creating

Attitude Valuing demonstrate appreciation of the importance of exercise

Values Valuing Show cooperation in performing the activity

2. Content heart rate (The Rhythm of My Heart )

3. Learning Resources Sci 9 LM pg 17-19, Sci 9 TG pg 12-14

4. Procedures
4.1 Introductory Activity
The Students will recall what are the parts of the heart through oral recitation
5 minutes
4.2 Activity
The Students will paired with their classmate and perform activity 6 The Rhythm of My Heart
15 minutes
4.3 Analysis

The Students will answer the following questions:What was your calculated resting pulse?
What was your pulse after exercising?
How would you differentiate your heart rates before and after exercising?
What is the advantage of timing for a full minute to find your pulse?
5 minutes What is the advantage of timing over a shorter period of time, especially when you have just finished
exercising?
According to statistics, the maximum heart rate should be 220 minus a person's age. How would you
interpret your highest heart rate in relation to that given number?

4.4 Abstraction A pair of student will report about the result of their activity. The Teacher will Ask the students to tell
where the sound of their heart is coming from and Discuss to them that heartbeat is the sound produced by
the heart as it pumps blood. In doing the activity, remind the students to choose only the physical activities
that they can tolerate so as to avoid injury or strain. Ensure that all of the students are in good health
before starting the activity. Emphasize that knowledge about our heart rates can help us monitor our
5 minutes fitness levels and it might even help us spot developing health problems

4.5 Application
The student will demonstrate how to take thier Pulse/heat rate
5 minutes
4.6 Assessment
The students will answer the following question on a one half
Tests
5 minutes crosswise. What is the importance of knowing how to get your pulse rate?
