Let’s Study and Analyze

Posting and Sharing in Social Media

Social Media platforms are interactive technologies that allow the users
to communicate, share, and exchange information, ideas, career interests,
and other forms of expression via virtual communities and networks.
Additionally, social media platforms are used to document memories, to learn
about new things, to advertise oneself and to form friendships along with the
growth of ideas.
It is also an integral tool in the teaching and learning process in today’s
era. Access to the internet is available to everyone in gathering and sharing
information.

4
As technology unfolds around the globe, it is also important to use this
with great caution. You should know how to distinguish what is acceptable
and safe.

Let’s Try This

Directions: List down at least 5 social media websites where you can
post and share your reactions, comments, pictures, blogs, and files.

Let’s See What You Have Learned

Social Media Websites / Platforms
Social media sites have become invaluable tools in education,
business, and communication. They play an important role in every learner’s
life. They are easier and more convenient to use to access and provide
information, and for communication. Teachers and learners can be connected
and can use these platforms to improve the teaching and learning process.

▪ Instant online discussions - used by people to interact simultaneously.

▪ Relationships – used to connect to the learners, stakeholders, and other
organizations.

▪ Knowledge Sharing – used to share knowledge and gain credibility in

chosen field(s) or specialization(s).
▪ Low cost - cost-effective communication medium and is free for the end-
user to communicate and an excellent publicity tool for things like events,
new courses, and research advances.

5
▪ Connect at any time - social networking never sleeps. You might not get
an instant reply from someone, but most social networking sites are not
restricted by geography and there is often someone to chat with from the
international community.

▪ Branding - seen as a wide-reaching tool to reach a huge audience.

NOTE: “Search engines like Google and Bing are increasingly popular.
The more presence we have on social media sites, the higher our ratings in
online search results. It is important that we present ourselves in a positive
light”.
