Current Input Module HART Support FW351H

CURRENT INPUT MODULE HART SUPPORT FW351H

Section 1 DESCRIPTION
FW351H is an 8-channel HART signal input module, which can access the
data from intelligent instruments with HART protocol, and allows 275
hand-held HART Communicator (Rosemount) to be connected to the HART
network as the second master instrument. The module is channel-channel
isolated.

FW351H needs one I/O slot to install in the cage. The signal is divided into
two types as soon as it gets into I/O module: one is HART signal, the other
is current. After processed by FW351H the HART signal is sent to computer
by RS-485/Ethernet converter. By setting the jumpers, two different
connection modes of RS-485 can be chosen: one is to use RS-485 wiring
terminals on the back of the cage, the other is to use the terminals on the
matched terminal board.

Current signal is converted into the digital signal, then sent to operator
station. Please refer to “FW351(B) User Manual”.

FW351H can be configured as single or redundancy. When in single mode,

it can be inserted in any I/O slot; when in redundant mode, the two
redundant modules must be inserted in two I/O slots which are next to each
other, and the address should be ADD, ADD+1, here ADD is an even.

SAMS is the software matched to FW351H. With this software, users can
configure or debug the intelligent instruments in the field.

Section 4 USAGE INSTRUCTION

The figure below shows the structural diagram of FW351H. FW351H
consists of two PCBs called bottom PCB and front PCB. J2, JP1,JP2, JP3,
JP4, JP5 and JP6 are on the bottom PCB, and SW1 is between the two
boards.

4.4 RS-485 CONNECTOR

RS-485/Ethernet converter is needed to convert RS-485 signal to Ethernet

signal, in order to connect to the management software in operator station,
which is shown as Figure 4-3. Two connection modes can be set by the
jumper, please refer to 4.2 Jumper Setting and 5.3 RS-485 Network
Connection.

RS-485 signal from RS-485 converter needs to go through FW406B

(terminal resistance), then connect to cage connector or terminal board
connector. The farthest module from FW406B must set as terminal node
mode, for example the module in the 15th I/O slot in a cage or the last
terminal board, by the way, in one RS-485 bus there is only one terminal
node.

4.5 TERMINALS DEFINITION & CONNECTION

The terminal boards used with FW351H are TB351-IU and TB351-IRU
which can achieve channel-channel power distribution by special power
distribution module. The selection principle is shown as Table 4-5 .

When FW351H is used with TB351-IU terminal board, the connection

direction is referred to “TB351-IU User Manual”.

When FW351H is used with TB351-IRU terminal board, the connection

direction is referred to “TB351-IRU User Manual”.

Section 5 APPLICATIONS

5.1 APPLICATION NOTICE

1. When connecting, power supply terminals on terminal board should be

connected firstly ,then connect the module with terminal board by DB25
cable; when disconnecting, on the contrary, DB25 cable should be
disconnected firstly.

2. When FW351H is in working status, push it out before operating DB25

cable.

5.2 HART SIGNAL CONNECTION

FW351H connects to field instruments via TB351-IU or TB351-IRU, and

connects to operator station via RS-485 network shown as follows:

5.3 RS-485 NETWORK CONNECTION

There are two methods to connect RS-485 network. Figure 5-2 shows the
connection when RS-485 connector is from cage.

5.4 EXAMPLE

For example: The filed instrument is 1151 intelligent transmitter with power
supply, and the output is HART signal. The module is supposed to be
non-redundant, In this case, choose TB351-IU to use with FW351H.,and
JP1 on FW351H should be set as single mode, No.3 of SW1should be OFF,
JP3 and JP4 should be positioned at “2-3” to use RS-485 connector from
cage. No.4~No.8 of SW1should be OFF.
