Introduction
The purpose of this document is to provide a guide to partners for downloading and installing
WebSphere Voice Toolkit v6.0.1.1. Please refer to the Information center for IBM®
WebSphere® Voice products for detailed information on WebSphere Voice Server and the
Voice Toolkit.

Voice Toolkit V6.0.1.1 requires an existing installation of the Rational Software Development
Platform 6.0.1.1. Users can install it with Rational Web Developer (RWD), Rational
Application Developer (RAD), or Rational Software Architect (RSA). The V6.0 Rational
platform is downloaded and then upgraded on-line.

1 Downloading Rational Software Development Platform V6.0

The Rational Software Development Platform V6.0 is available from the IBM Software Access
Catalog. It is recommended to download the Rational Application Developer as follows:

1. Begin the process of downloading Rational Application Developer V6.0 by clicking:

2. Click Log in to Software Access Catalog.
3. Enter your PartnerWorld userid and password if requested.
4. Click the Yes button if you receive any security warnings.
5. Read the IBM PartnerWorld Agreement and select I Agree at the bottom of the
screen.
6. Click Software Access Catalog - Electronic Software Download.
7. Under the section, Finder options, select Find by search text
8. Select download method: Http transfer – if Download Director does not work.
9. In the Find by search text type rational application developer v6.0
10. Select the All method
11. Select Search, this may take a few minutes
12. In the Search text results section select + box next to Rational Software
13. You will see a list of eAssemblies and their associated images. The images you need
are listed below. Note: RAD is located near the bottom of the page

Rational Application Developer V6.0 Windows Part 1 - REQUIRED. Contains core

installation files - ESD extractor. Multilingual. (C81CIML)

Rational Application Developer V6.0 Windows Part 2 - REQUIRED. Contains core

installation files. Multilingual. (C81CJML)

Rational Application Developer V6.0 Windows Part 8 - OPTIONAL: Contains

WebSphere legacy test environments. Multilingual. (C81CQML)

Note: If you are going to develop applications for WebSphere Voice Application
Access (Portlets), download all WebSphere Portal V5.1 images too.
14. One at a time, select each image listed above.
15. At the bottom of the window, select the I accept check box
16. Select Download now
Place each downloaded tar, zip, or exe file in a separate directory on your local machine.

2 Downloading IBM WebSphere Voice Toolkit V6.0.1.1

The 6.0.1.1 version of the toolkit is only available from the Toolkit Support website. Do not use
the 6.0.1 version of the toolkit that comes packaged with the WebSphere Voice Server as this is
down level.

1. Begin the process of downloading IBM WebSphere Voice Toolkit V6.0.1.1 by clicking

2. Click Download WebSphere Voice Toolkit icon (under the Highlights bar).
3. Click Tool: IBM WebSphere Voice Toolkit for Operating system: Windows XP |
Version: 6.0.1.1 | Release date: 21 Apr 2006
4. Click Continue
5. Click Sign in
6. Enter your PartnerWorld userid and password if requested.
7. Read the IBM PartnerWorld Agreement and select I agree at the bottom of the screen.
8. Click the arrow next to I confirm.
9. Click Download now next to Download Director to download all files. Optionally you
can download the files individually using HTTP transfer by clicking Download now next
to each file name.

3 Installing Rational Application Developer V6.0

Installation of Rational Application Developer consists of the following steps:

1. Read the readme_install.html from the IBM WebSphere Voice Toolkit download first for
Rational Application Developer pre-installation tips (such as, to determine if you need to
use short path names ( C:\RAD6) instead of taking the default installation path name).
2. Build the installation disk images by running extractor.exe (it will create several folders
including disk1-4)
3. Installing Rational Application Developer consists of two main steps. Begin by invoking
launchpad.exe on disk1 or you can launch it as an option when the extractor.exe
completes.
a. Click Install IBM Rational® Application Developer V6.0 on the Launchpad
wizard
i. Follow the prompts.
ii. On the “Select the features for “IBM Rational Application Developer
V6.0” you would like to install:” page, you can de-select IBM
WebSphere Application Server V6.0 Integrated Test Environment if
you are not using Reusable Dialog Components (RDCs) in the Voice
Toolkit.

iii. On the “Installation of IBM Rational Application Developer V6.0

complete. Please read the information below and then choose Finish”
page, de-select the Launch Agent Controller install.
iv. Click Finish when complete.
b. Click WebSphere test environment V5.x from the Launchpad wizard.
i. Follow the prompts.
ii. On the “Select the features for “IBM Rational 5.x Legacy Integrated Test
Environments” you would like to install:” screen, select only WebSphere
Application Server 5.1. This is for use by the Integrated Runtime
Environment in the Voice Toolkit.
iii. Click Finish when complete.
c. Click Exit on the Launchpad wizard.

4 Updating Rational Application Developer V6.0 to V6.0.1.1

After installation is complete, update it to V6.0.1.1. To begin, perform the following steps.

Note: updates will require a fast network connection. To speed the installation it is
recommended that you set up a local repository of the fixes prior to proceeding. This
optional approach is detailed in section 4.2.

4.1 Installing the fix pack from the web

1. Start Rational Application Developer using Start → All Programs → IBM Rational
→ IBM Rational Application Developer V6.0 → Rational Application Developer.
2. On the “Select a workspace” prompt, if you used a short path name when installing
Rational Application Developer, then use the same short path name for your
workspace. For example:
C:\RAD6\workspace
Otherwise use the default.
3. To update Rational Application Developer V6.0 to V6.0.1.1 click Help → Software
Updates → IBM Rational Product Updater.
4. Click Find Updates.
5. Click OK on the Updates Required window. Updates will take a considerable amount
of time even when using a fast network connection.
6. Restart Rational Application Developer when completed.

4.2 Setting up a local repository for Rational Updater and installing

the fix pack locally (optional)

1. Download the appropriate fix pack ZIP file. Download

ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/rationalsdp/rad/60/zips/rad60_6011.zip. This ZIP file is
a cumulative update; it contains all the fixes and updates since version 6.0.
2. Extract the fix pack to a temporary directory, such as C:\temp.
3. Start Rational Product Updater by clicking Start > Programs > IBM Rational >
Rational Product Updater.
4. On the “Select a workspace” prompt, if you used a short path name when installing
Rational Application Developer, then use the same short path name for your

workspace. For example:

C:\RAD6\workspace
Otherwise use the default.
5. Click Preferences > Update Sites.
6. Navigate to the location of the extracted fix pack, e.g.
C:\temp\rad\policy_60_6011.xml.
7. Click OK.
8. Click Find Updates.

If your computer does not have Internet access, or cannot connect to the live IBM
update server, a warning appears in Rational Product Updater that states that other
update sites are not available. You can ignore this warning if you installed IBM
Rational Product Updater 6.0.1.

If your computer has Internet access and can connect to the live IBM update server,
and if Rational Product Updater requires an update, you are prompted to install it
before you can continue. Click OK. Rational Product Updater installs the update,
restarts, and retrieves a list of available updates.

9. Select IBM Rational Application Developer 6.0.1.1.

10. Click Install Updates.
11. To accept the license agreement and continue the installation, click OK.

Depending on the speed of your computer processor and the amount of RAM in your
computer, the update might take an extended period of time to install.

After the installation is complete, Rational Product Updater lists the installed updates
on the Installed Products page.

12. Close Rational Product Updater and you are done.

5 Installing IBM VoiceToolkit V6.0.1.1

Install the Voice Toolkit by following these steps:
1. Ensure Rational Application Developer is not running.
2. Start the IBM WebSphere Voice Toolkit wizard by invoking VoiceTools_Setup.exe.
3. Follow the prompts.
4. On the “Choose the setup type that best suits your needs” page, click Custom, then click
Next.
5. Check Local Voice Server Environment - Technical Preview and then click Next.
6. Select your desired language and click Next until the activity bar appears.

After installation, be sure you update the js.jar file, as specified in the Voice Toolkit
readme_install.html.
