ENDOCRINOLOGY MODULE

Assalam o alikum. I hope everything’s going well, with absolute relaxing quarantine xD
Endocrinology is literally the easiest module, super integrated, covering one topic from one subject is literally
equivalent of doing it from all of them, i would suggest give a strong focus on physiology and rest would be a piece
of cake for you.
NOTE: Cover topics. I won’t recommend studying subject wise as it would be triple the effort.

SUBJECTS

Majors: Minors:
• Physiology, • Pharmacology,
• Pathology, • Community Medicine,
• Biochemistry • Behavioural science
• Anatomy (Histo+Embryo+gross)

VIVA:

Endocrinology:
• Phsyiology
• Biochemistry

SUBJECT GUIDE

ANATOMY:
• Hypothalamus • Pancreas
• Pituitary Gland • Adrenals glands
• Thyroid & Parathyroid • Pineal gland

Anatomy has a bit scattered pattern, as you won’t find it complied in any book all the glands are in different
chapters.
➢ Hypothalamus and pituitary and pineal in head
➢ Thyroid parathyroid in neck
➢ Thymus in thorax
➢ Pancreas in abdomen related to git
➢ Adrenal gland in abdomen related to kidney

(I really found this ppt helpful as its all in one place, also good for quick revision)
Do it from lecture outline since its not that detailed topic wrt to examination purpose, for concepts you may come
across each gland in different module. I found this ppt super helpful

EMBRYOLOGY
Again the topics are pretty scattered in different chapters
➢ Hypothalamus and pituitary and pineal in head/brain development
➢ Thyroid along pharyngeal pouches
➢ Pancreas in GIT (do both exorcine ane endocrine part)
Some video lecture suggestion

Selfless medicose https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCH7hVR8oZ8E_OKJo3Vpt8Tg

HISTOLOGY
(Laiq Hussain obviously)
➢ Chapter Endocrinology

PHYSIOLOGY
Physiology is your MAIN. It’s easy, and conceptual so you won’t have to ratafy a lot on this module
➢ Chapter 74-79
Do chapter 74 as it sets a good basic ground
All the part related to teeth isn’t included
Try watching Najeeb’s video ik they are super lengthy but Najeeb’s video are a complete package of physiology and
biochemistry.
Other suggestions:
Ninja nerd science https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMV130vU8gA&list=PLTF9h-T1TcJjOIhflPV32PZxgcN8wLlvj
Osmosis (Drive link)

PATHOLOGY
Watch Pathoma videos and cover it from Pathoma lectures.
Important topics
➢ Hyperthyroidism
➢ Hypothyroidism
➢ Diabetes mellitus (type I and type II)
➢ Conns Syndrome
➢ Cushing Syndrome
➢ Pheochromocytoma

After that watch osmosis videos, it would cover all the minor but important points you might’ve skipped during
lectures

BIOCHEMISTRY
You would have station for biochemistry, so don’t skip it completely. The recommended book is chatter jee, whole
big ass chapter
➢ Biochemistry of hormones.
Important hormones
• Hypothalamic factors,
• Pituitary
• Insulin and
• Thyroid hormones
It’s extremely lengthy so don’t try covering it whole.
Thyroid parathyroid pituitary and Hypothalamus factors along insulin are important
LOs are compulsory
PHARMACOLOGY
Regarding pharma I’m again saying the same thing. Strictly stick to your syllabus senior batches syllabus differs
strongly with every upcoming batch. And since pharma isn’t a main subject you don’t have to worry about covering
it
Side note: Topic of insulin is compulsory na bh krwain tou krlenaaa, other than this everything is upto your
lectures.
Short notes of pharma

Important OSPE
1. Pancreas
2. Thyroid follicles
3. Pituitary gland supply

Study plan

Endocrinology is a super easy module. If you study with focus you can easily cover it in 10 days or less. With
quarantine and dow going crazy with number of lectures conducted in a day you’ll prolly end the module in 2 or
2.5 weeks.
I would suggest you it’s high time you start focusing on your studies again. One thing you can try is login into class
and at that time study by yourself and cover the topics this way you may cover endo module easily and at after
some rest do neuro/HnN.

Do topic wise study. Cover one gland first than move to next
➢ Get done with anatomy first, related structures and boundaries of each gland are important.
Since anatomy is very less it would hardly take 10-15 hours to cover.
➢ After that do Histology, give it a one good hour as Histology of gland is important (especially of
Thyroid and Pancreas)
➢ After anatomy and histo do embryology… don’t waste to much time on anatomy
➢ Your focus should be Physiology and Pathology
➢ For physiology I highly recommend watching Najeeb videos. They are super lengthy, but you
would have a strong base after that. 2nd recommendation is Ninja nerds’ videos. Both are equally
good with the content but Najeeb’s teaching method is somewhat old school and I prefer it.
➢ For patho no need to go and cram basis. Pathoma is more than enough after covering pathoma
read morphology boxes from basis.
ANATOMY GROSS – HISTOLOGY – E MBRYOLOGY – PHYSIOLOGY – BIOCHEMISTRY – PATHOLOGY
NOTE
As I can’t save video lecture in DL sadly :( I’ve created a drive link with all needed lectures
• Najeeb
• Osmosis
• BnB
DRIVE LINK also has syllabus and Khizer bhai’s guidelines if someone prefers it.
I won’t be deleting the link.
