Congress Dress Code

Prelude
The Wesleyan Holiness Church Wesleyan Youth Congress is an event that will see more than 100
people from various cultures and countries coming together as we try to encourage youth to
BECOME what God wants us to be by following His example. The Congress is not a CAMP and as
is more in line with a Convention and as such the Dress Code should also be reflective of same.
We have tried to capture some guidelines as it relates to dress which reflects Christ as well as the
ethos of a Convention.

Practical
Congress has a mix of sessions and as such the guidelines for dress will change accordingly. For
The opening and closing ceremonies, the Dress Code will be Formal. At all times we expect clothes
worn to cover all aspects of the body. We can be classy and elegant. If women prefer to wear
dangling earrings for the opening and closing ceremonies, that will be allowed.

There will also be a tour and mission day. On those days we expect the dress code to be casual.
It is expected that the Congress shirt will be worn and jeans or pants for both male and female
will be accepted. We expect at all times for these jeans or pants of any kind to be loose and not
tight. THERE WILL BE NO DISTRESSED JEANS ALLOWED AT ANY TIME.

At the hotel there will be pools, and therefore, swimming is allowed when the time presents
itself. For women we expect only one-piece bathing suits with a pants to cover the bottom. The
bathing suit should not be sheer and should properly cover cleavage. Men are allowed to wear
shorts and a vest while in the pool. If they also opt to wear a T-shirt that is accepted.

There will be regular sessions of Congress such as YNT, workshops and morning sessions. For this
we will encourage a semi-formal attire. Jeans/Pants are acceptable for both male and female.
However again this must not be close fitting. A jumpsuit may be worn to sessions for female once
below the waist. Careful

attention must be paid to the messages on the shirts and the symbols on the shirts we will wear
to sessions and even throughout Congress. We are to be careful not to allow any avenue for the
enemy. There are times when we wear shirts that promote other religions and messages that are
not in accordance with scripture.
