ANCHORING SCRIPT

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent and the most Merciful.
Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed guests, teachers, and students, welcome to the
National Speech Competition organized by Concordia College Head Office
Lahore!
I am Ahsan Abid and I am honoured to be the host/compere for this prestigious
event filled with intellect, eloquence, and inspiration.
Today, we gather not merely as spectators but as witnesses to the transformative
power of words. I am honoured to guide you through the intellectual voyage where
ideas become narratives and narratives become the heartbeat of the change. Let the
speeches ignite our mind and may this competition be a celebration of the diverse
voices that make our world richer. Without further ado, let the oratory adventure
begin.
We have two exciting categories today: Serious and Humorous. In the Serious
category, participants will delve into thought-provoking topics, while in the
Humorous category, they'll bring laughter and joy. The Serious category explores
the theme, "The cure for pain is in the pain," while the Humorous category has the
intriguing topic, "I am online therefore I exist."
Introduction of Judges:

Now, let me introduce our distinguished panel of judges who will have the
challenging task of evaluating our participants today. Please welcome Miss Amna
Nazir and Miss Wajiha Bilal. Their expertise and insights will guide us in
determining the winners of this competition.
Miss Amna Nazir:

Preserving more than 17 years of teaching experience under her belt, which has
prepared her in a way that she has become highly motivational for a dynamic
environment at her workplace. She has done M Phil in English Linguistics. She has
worked in several renowned schools of Lahore including Beaconhouse School
System and Esena Foundations. Currently, she is working in Lahore Grammar
School as O Levels English teacher. She has been an active member of the School
Event Management team and has conducted and judged several successful events.

Miss Wajiha Bilal:


Wajeha Bilal, a seasoned educator with a Masters in English Literature, brings
over two decades of teaching experience to her role as a Middle School English
Teacher at Beacon House School System, Canal Side Boys. Since joining the
school in 2011, Wajeha has not only excelled in the classroom but has also taken
on leadership responsibilities as an instructional coach, guiding and supporting her
colleagues. Her commitment to professional development is evident through her
initiation of the annual DRP course, aimed at nurturing reflective practitioners
among BSS teachers. Additionally, her role as the coordinator for the International
School Award-winning team underscores her dedication to fostering excellence
and innovation in education.

Rules and Regulations:


Before we begin, let's quickly go through some important rules.
1. Each competitor will be given THREE minutes for his/her oration. The first
alarm will ring at exactly TWO minutes and THIRTY seconds.
2. Second but Final alarm will be belled sharp at THREE minutes. The orator
will have to sum up his/her arguments within the allotted time. The speaker
will have no right to keep his/her speech continue after the final bell. Failing
to comply with this instruction, the judges will have the unquestionable
authority to deduct marks as per their judgement.
3. The oral speech is mandatory and the speaker can carry no material with
him/her. Bringing any material will affect their score negatively.
4. The contestants must be clad in neat and clean proper college uniforms,
without which the participation of any contestant will be declared as
cancelled.
5. The contestants and audience must exercise the utmost discipline during the
competition.
6. No shouting, hooting, or chanting is allowed. Doing so by the team or their
accompanying teammates will result in the disqualification of the team.
7. Any participant using foul discourse, and indecent connotation (obscene,
offensive, or threatening) will be declared as disqualified from the
competition.
8. A speaker making offensive remarks about any important personage or
passing controversial, religious, political, or sectarian remarks shall be
immediately disqualified.
9. Speech should be prepared by the student himself. Material plagiarized,
replicated, or copied from the internet, or any book will result in a negative
marking.
10. Result will be declared instantly after the competition comes to an end. The
verdict by the judges will be unchallengeable and final. No objection will be
entertained in any case.
11. Judges will evaluate based on content, delivery, and overall impact. We
request the audience to maintain a respectful silence during each speech.
