LANGUAGE TEACHING

Assessment:

Answer the following questions:

1.

A. The four types of language teaching are direct or indirect, pre-emptive,facilitator and responsive
or remedial.

Direct method of teaching languages aims to build a direct way into the world of the target language
making a relation between experience and language while indirect method aims for the learners to
explore new learning during their exploration of different languages.

Pre-emptive is something the teacher or student drew attention to a linguistic form even though no
error in the use of their form had occurred. Also, others may decide to raise attention to language
while no error is present.

Facilitator in language teaching focuses on the teacher who guides and motivates students to learn
where the teacher is the facilitator rather than the source.

Responsive or remedial aimed at helping students with learning difficulties in the use of language.
For example, those students who are considered special may be under this in language teaching. It is
when low achievers may gain some difficulties, teacher must respond to the needs of the students
by creating individually responsive learning to aid the problem.

B.Teachers are the light of the students inside of the given blank pages, they are set as the bridge of
ideas to the learners. Teachers should explore teaching materials outside of the textbooks because
textbooks not always meet the variety of conditions in a language class and in some occasions, some
students find difficulty in learning so teachers give out some more expanded ideas out from given
printed texts. One of the responsibility of a teacher is to aid students out of adversity so we have
teacher- produced materials in which they are extending some examples for students to easily
understand the lesson. Relevancy and demand is considered by the teacher to not mislaid the
learners and to provide affiliated sets of exemplar to the learners.

C. Materials should take into account that positive effects of instruction are usually delayed, learners
have different learning styles and differ in affective attitudes.

*Materials are anything that is used to increase learner’s knowledge. In this principle provided by
Tomlinson, this simply informs that not all students could learn in the same manner of instruction.
This is timely because they have different styles in learning, that is why in materials development,
they are broadening ideas to develop whatever input they will provide to suit every students needs.
It was stated that some materials can be instructional, experiential, elicitative or exploratory.

Materials should require and facilitate learner self-investment, provide the learners with
opportunities to use the target language to achieve communicative purposes.

*In this basic principle, I’ll let YouTube as an example as the material for the students. They can
encounter new environment where they can explore modern type of learning. They can get ideas
and they can explore modern type of learning. They can get ideas and they can use it as channel to
improve self-esteem, get a new experience out from the ordinary discussion vibe. In addition, they
can stream live to enhance communication skills or to use some applications related to the lesson as
another materials to interact with foreign speakers of English for communicative purposes.

D. Materials Adaptation

Material Adaptation exist when the material itself helps in assisting both the teachers and the
learners. The materials are being elaborately studied first by the teacher where they further analyse
the details and function of a certain material. When they already mastered the proper application in
the learning process, it is when they integrate it to the students in a more coherent way and so
material adaptation subsist.

It is stated that teachers are not creators of teaching materials but of good materials because they
present it to the students in a more logical manner based on the situation and area of application.
