❖ Reading
Competencies;
1. ENSRC-IIIc-2.13: Differentiate facts from opinion
2. EN8SS-Ic-1.5.1: Skim to determine key ideas
Activity
1. Provide a text or article that presents a mix of facts and opinions. Ask students to sort
the statements into three columns; facts, opinion, and reasoning. Let them share their
sorted statements in the class.
2. Distribute the text and ask students to skim for 3 minutes. Let them discuss the main
idea of the text in the class.
❖ Listening
Competencies;
1. EN8LC-IIIf-2.10: Distinguish facts from opinions cited in the text listened to
2. EN8LC-Id-5.1: Listen for important points signaled by volume, projection, pitch, stress,
intonation, juncture, and rate of speech
Activity
1. Provide statements and read them aloud. Let them distinguish the facts from opinions
by letting them choose between facts or opinion lines. (educational game)
2. Provide recordings that require attention to emphasis and ask students to create and
record their speech and then listen to it to identify areas where they could improve their
use of emphasis.

Activity
1. Provide a topic for the students and ask them to compose an essay.
2. Ask the students to create visual representations of ideas, concepts, and information that
connect to a central idea or topic.

1. EN8F-Ii-3: Deliver a self-composed informative speech
2. EN8OL-Ic-3.11: Use the correct sounds of English
Activity
1. Ask the students to write an informative speech and have them deliver it in the class.
2. Ask the students to create an audio recording of themselves pronouncing the words and
phrases. Share the recordings with the class to provide feedback on their
