the generated emf i) with same flux and speed of 1000 rpm ii) with a flux per pole is 24mwb and speed of 900 rpm Ans

2. The armature of a four pole dc machine has 100 turns and runs at 600 rpm. The EMF generated in open circuit is 220V.

3. A 20kW, 200V shunt generator has an armature resistance of 0.05Ω and shunt field resistance of 200 Ω. Calculate the

5. A short shunt compound wound dc generator delivers power to 50 lamps rated for 250 , 60 watt each. The generator has
shunt field, series field and armature resistance of 130 Ω, 0.1 Ω, 0.1 Ω respectively. Calculate the voltage generated in
armature assume 1 voltage drop per brush.
6. A 250V dc shunt motor on no load runs at 1000 rpm and takes 5A. the field and armature resistance are 250 Ω and 0.25
Ω respectively . Calculate the speed when the motor is loaded such that it takes 41A if the armature reaction weakness the

7. A 20kW, 240V dc shunt generator has armature and field resistance of 0.05 Ω and 80 Ω respectively. Calculate the total
armature power when working
i) As a generator delivering 20kW output
ii) As a motor taking 20kW input

8. A 230V dc shunt motor rotates at 1000 rpm when the armature current is 35A. The resistance of armature circuit is 0.3 Ω.
Calculate the additional resistance required in the armature circuit to reduce speed of the motor is 750 rpm assuming that the
armature current is then 25A. ans (2.315 Ω)
9. A 200V dc series motor runs at 500rpm when taking a current of 25A. The resistance of armature is 0.5 Ω and that of
field is 0.3 Ω. If the current remains constant calculate the resistance necessary to reduce the speed to 250 rpm. Ans (3.6
