TASK I.

LISTENING ASSESSMENT

1. Read the following model guidelines for listening task.


2. Create the tasks for listening for each level (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1) with assessment
rubrics.
3. Submit the listening task:
 the guidelines describing your listening task ( both PDF and Word
document)
 listening task (PDF, Word)
 audio recording (MP3)
 answer key (PDF, Word)
 assessment rubrics (PDF, Word )

MODEL GUIDELINES FOR LISTENING TASK:

1. Date: 20th April, 2024


2. Aim or purpose of the task: diagnostic: to identify weaknesses in students’
listening skills
3. Age group: 18/19
4. Difficulty level: intermediate ( B1level)
5. First/second foreign language: second foreign language (English)
6. Number of sections/parts: 2
7. Skills tested: listening for specific information and listening for the main points
8. Target language situation: listening to the radio and understanding the main
points
9. Task type: integrative; both objectively and subjectively
10. Task method: completion/short answer
11. Text type: radio news/radio interview with a writer
12. Text length: 3 minutes each (listened to twice)
13. Number of items: 10 per task
14. Rubrics: it is provided
15. Time: students have 30 seconds to read the task before they start listening and 30
seconds after the listening to finalise their answers.
16. Total test time: 30 minutes
17. Criteria: Answer key is provided (spelling is checked)
18. Length of answers: in the short-answer task, answers longer than 4 words will be
penalised
19. Task type: paper-based task (PBT), computer-based task (CBT), internet-based
task (IBT)
20. Assessment type: Formative
