Dear Sir,

APPLICATION FOR THE POSITION OF A SCIENCE TEACHER

I am excited to apply for a teaching position at The Rehla Academy (TRA) as advertised. With a strong
background in both secular and Islamic education, including my current role at Crescent University and my
previous experience teaching Chemistry at an Islamic secondary school, I am eager to contribute to the holistic
and integrative educational approach embodied by TRA in providing quality and value – based Education
(VbE) to the ‘TOTAL PERSON’ and its dedication to lifelong learning experience.

Having taught in an Islamic educational environment, I am well-versed in integrating Islamic principles with
academic instruction, ensuring that students not only excel academically but also grow in their faith and
character. My experience at Crescent University—an Islamic institution—has further deepened my
understanding of how to deliver a curriculum that is rooted in Islamic values while also meeting rigorous
academic standards. I currently teach elective Biochemistry courses, where I focus on delivering complex
scientific concepts in a manner that is accessible and engaging for students. This role has allowed me to mentor
students both academically and spiritually, ensuring that their educational journey is holistic and grounded in
Islamic ethics. Previously, at an Islamic secondary school, I taught Chemistry, where I was responsible for
creating and implementing lesson plans that combined scientific rigor with Islamic values. This experience
has honed my ability to connect with younger students, guiding them through the complexities of scientific
learning while reinforcing their Islamic identity.

The Rehla Academy’s commitment to providing a value-based education (VbE) through its unique blend of
the British curriculum, the Nigerian curriculum and the Tarbiyah Model and Integrated Learning Model (ILM)
(an integrative and VbE method of Education that has its heart at the provision of all knowledge through the
lens of Islam) resonates deeply with my educational and teaching philosophy. I believe that education should
address the needs of the whole person—intellectually, spiritually, and morally. My teaching approach is
student-centered, where learning is contextualized within real-life scenarios that are meaningful and relevant
to the students, since learning is more meaningful when it is integrated with and implemented in real life
contexts that are directly related to the learner. This approach aligns perfectly with TRA’s ILM framework,
which places students at the heart of the educational process.

1
My combined experience in teaching both at the secondary and tertiary levels, especially within Islamic
institutions, equips me with the skills necessary to contribute effectively to TRA’s mission. I am skilled at
creating a learning environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and ethical reflection, all within
an Islamic framework. This is particularly relevant at TRA, where the emphasis on character development and
lifelong learning is paramount.

Please find attached my Curriculum Vitae for your perusal. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how
my background, skills, and values align with the vision of The Rehla Academy. Thank you for considering my
application.

Yours faithfully,

Haruna Abdullahi
