Electrical Power Management System - Battery (EPMS)

The document discusses the Genesis EPMS system which measures battery temperature, voltage, and amperage and sends this data to the ECM. The ECM then calculates the state of charge and determines the charging voltage based on various vehicle conditions. The system aims to keep the battery charged through different charging strategies depending on the state of charge and vehicle usage.

Electrical Power Management System - Battery (EPMS)

Description: The EPMS, on the Genesis, measures temperature, amperage, and voltage through a battery sensor and sends the data to the ECM. The ECM then calculates State of Charge (SOC) and determines the amount of charge. The Battery is located in the trunk of the Genesis and the Battery Sensor is located on the negative battery terminal. Under hood battery posts Under hood battery posts Do not test here. At start-up, the Battery is charged for 120 - 150 seconds

After 150 seconds the System goes into Discharge mode; until the voltage drops below 12.7V or SOC less than 85%

When the SOC drops below 85%,the ECM will use the feedback Voltage to manage the charging until the correct SOC is achieved
