Develop a synopsis of a proposed research in management on an emerging issue

Step I: Select a thematic area of study on one of the emerging issues in management

For example, Exploration of indigenous knowledge prevailing in Karnali region: A scoping study for
innovative management practices

Step II: Define the prevailing or growing context.

1. Background of the Study/Preamble/General Situational Analyses/Context Analyses

What is evolving in a given environment. For example, the Government of Karnali Province has recently
com up with a policy and plan of action on promoting local knowledge. Such a situation needs empirical
evidences backed-up by research. Present the situation/context with lacking of systematic and scientific
research=based practices in this field of inquiry.

Perform a few lead reviews [from about 8-10 sources] to explore various thematic constructs. Themes
and elements of contemporary research.

Present with a summarized outline of key constructs of inquiry to be proclaimed as the culture of
universal research in the chosen area of study. What is the prevailing practice of thematic
consideration of the world of scientific inquiry in the field of indigenous knowledge (IK)?

2. The Missing Link/Research Gap/Point of Departure

What exactly insisted the present researcher undertake/consider the particular theme/issue of inquiry

3. Statement of the Problem

The present researcher is interested to initiate a systematic and scientific inquiry being guided by a
twofold concern of inquiry – What are the various elements or components of IK prevailing in the Karnali
region, and to what extent can these knowledge domains be replicated in innovative management
practices in different organizations?

Or,

The prevailing situation in context of Karnali Province of Nepal, required urgent research contribution to
identify the various types of IK domains and their potential for benchmarking in diverse fields of
management applications.
