4 CLASSIFICATION.
This is a class I device and cannot be connected to the patient as specified in Standard
EN60601-1. Follow installation instructions carefully.
This unit is designed for applications that transfer images from generic radiology
systems to network archives.
This device MUST be installed within a system that ensures protection against direct
and/or indirect contact with active parts.
The device requires enough space for easy installation and connection to a power
source, as well as for a possible cover that cannot damage the wires and allows for
the verification of correct positioning and of connections when removed.
The installation area must also be well ventilated in compliance with environmental
restrictions for this type of device as specified in the technical description.

The digital RTP device must only be used according to the safety instructions
contained in this manual and not for purposes other than those for which the device is
designed.
It must only be operated by qualified personnel with suitable expertise in computer
science and sufficient training in the operation of this kind of device.
The device must not be used in case of electrical or mechanical damage. It must not
be used also if any signal or alarm device is not functioning correctly. Any
modification of the device or its safety system must be previously authorized by
Digitec.
When unsure if additional devices, components or modules with which the device is
to be used are compatible, contact the manufacturer of the questionable device or an
expert to confirm that there is no danger. As with any technical equipment, this
digital device must be used correctly and periodically checked as per the
specifications in the “Maintenance” section of this manual.
5.1 LIABILITY.
• DIGITEC is responsible for the safety of this product only if maintenance, repairs
or modifications are carried out either by DIGITEC or expressly authorized
technicians.
• DIGITEC is not responsible for malfunctions, damage or danger due to incorrect
use of the device or non-compliance with maintenance rules.

Disconnect the device from the power supply before carrying out any maintenance.
Commissioning and fitting out must be carried out by specialized technicians
approved by the manufacturer. Electric shock protection is provided by grounded
metallic parts in the device cover. It is therefore necessary to periodically check the
complete grounding circuit (internal and external section) to verify that it functions
correctly.
• The X-Ray system in which the RTP device is installed must not be used in places
exposed to risk of explosion.
• Disconnect the system from the power source before cleaning, disinfecting and
sterilizing it.
• Cleaning and disinfecting products can form explosive gas mixtures. Use only
products that meet applicable regulations.
• Be careful not to spill liquids on the device. Leaking inside they could
compromise operation and safety of the device.

7 DEVICE DESCRIPTION
7.1 INTRODUCTION.
The RTP system is a machine that can accept images from a video camera, process
and memorize them on a magnetic support (hard disk). The system is available in
two versions - MR and HR – with the different types of acquisition hardware.
RTP is a system which allows transfer of imported images and related information to
TCP/IP networks with DICOM 3 protocol.
Depending on RTP configuration, imported exams can be sent to printing devices (a
PRINT SERVER or printer connected with the network) or to archive systems
(IMAGE SERVERS).
Optical disks (CD/DVD-ROM) can also be produced in order to review patients’
exams on computers using the DICOM Viewer program recorded on each CD/DVD-
ROM produced.
7.1.1 MR System.
The PPR-04 card pre-processes analogical video signals from the 625-line CCD
interconnected camera. The 12-bit digitalized video signal is processed by a
dedicated digital circuit with the following functions:
• Anti-vignetting
• Auto offset
• Recursive filter
• Recursive filter with movement detection (smart filter)
The digital circuit also interfaces with the control panel as:
• Signal input/output to and from the control panel
• Infrared remote control
7.1.2 HR System.
The PPR-05 card pre-processes analogical video signals from a progressive 1024-line
CCD camera. The 10 to 12-bit digitalized video signal is processed by a dedicated
digital circuit with the following functions:
• Anti-vignetting
• Auto offset
• Recursive filter
• Recursive filter with movement detection (smart filter)
The digital circuit also interfaces with the control panel as:
• Signal input/output to and from the control panel
• Infrared remote control.

7.2 ALGORITHMS
In logical sequence the algorithms applied at the original data of the images are the
following:
NOISE REDUCTION: the fluoroscopic images made at low dose are unfortunately
characterized by a high amplitude of the noise that clearly affect in part the visibility
and the perception of the operator. The usual process now used by all manufacturers
of vision systems for radiological application is also called temporal averaging filter
(average between successive images) also proposed by the manufacturers of RX
sensors and cameras. It also appears in the scientific literature for the reduction of
noise in all applications with high noise content (radiological, astronomy, military,
etc..)
ZOOM: algorithm was applied only in a local post-processing, digital magnifier with
bilinear interpolation to reduce the effect of discretization of individual pixels.

8 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
This device must necessarily be equipped an adequate external bipolar switch with
ON/OFF positions clearly defined and indicated on it (min. requirement 4A - 250V).
The switch must also comply with Standard IEC 1058-58.
Use only the power cable supplied by the manufacturer, which meets current CE
standards. In case of replacement, verify that the new cable also complies with
regulations.
Control cables and video cables to connect to the system must be shielded so as to not
create radio interference or disrupt the operation of nearby equipment.

Notes: IP Address and Subnet Mask are usually assigned by the network
administrator. The IP Address must be compatible with all other stations and devices
in the network.
The first three digits of the IP Address are the same for all network stations. The
fourth digit is unique for each single device.
The standard number for the Subnet Mask field is 255 . 255 . 255 . 0
We recommend recording IP addresses and corresponding network stations.

Once the network configuration is complete, you can start the network connection
test.
Activate the Command Prompt by selecting “Start / All Programs / Accessories /
Command Prompt” from the Task Bar at the bottom of the screen.
When the prompt is displayed, type in the PING command followed by the IP
Address of another device in the network and then press Enter (see screenshot
below).
If your screen looks the same as the one above, your network configuration is correct.
11/06/13

In this case, we recommend continuing the PING check towards other network
devices to ensure that the new station is properly connected with the entire network.
If your screen, instead, looks like the one below, then one or more settings are not
correct. In this case, both the cable and the network configurations settings need to be
checked.
Once the test has run successfully, type “Exit” to close the Command Prompt.

SCU carries out a N-ACTION, that is a request for SC service.
SCP is the server of the SC and has received the images for which it accepts
commitment.
SCP sends a N-EVENT-REPORT, that is to say a confirmation of the execution of
the SC command.

12 SYSTEM TEST.
The final system test is a complete check of the RTP hardware as described below. It
is divided into 3 steps: Cables and Connectors Checks, Electrical and Functional
Check, and Report.
12.1 CABLES AND CONNECTORS CHECKS.
Visual inspection of each single cable and connector to identify possible fractures or
damages:
A.1 RTP Power Cable and Power Connector Check.
A.3 Ethernet Connection Check (RTP to DICOM Network).
12.2 ELECTRICAL AND FUNCTIONAL CHECK.
Test transmission of one image in the DICOM network to verify that the RTP is fully
operational.
Note: Periodic repetitions the tests above ensure higher system reliability and
longer operational life.
12.3 REPORT.
Users are responsible for filling out a Test Report:
- during routine maintenance
- after any special maintenance.
Each check has a specific alphanumeric code-tag with reference to the test outline
and to the corresponding brief description in the chapters above.
