Q.01 a With usual notation, derive an expression for torque equation L2 CO1 1 06
of a D C motor.
b Analyze how to control the speed of DC shunt motor using L4 CO1 2 08
Armature and field control methods.

c A 4- pole DC Shunt motor takes 22 amps from 220 V supply. L3 CO1 2 06


The armature and shunt field resistances are 0.5 ohm and 100
ohm respectively. The armature is lap connected with 300
conductors. If flux per pole is 20 m wb. Calculate speed and
the developed torque
OR
Q.02 a With usual notations Derive an expression, that gives L2 CO1 1 06
variable losses is equal to constant losses of DC Motor
b With a neat circuit diagram, experimental testing procedure L4 CO1 2 08
for conducting Swinburne’s test on a dc motor. Show how
the efficiency as i) Motor and ii) Generator can be
predetermined.
c A 220 V DC shunt motor at no load takes a current of 2.5 A. L3 CO1 2 06
The resistance of armature and shunt field are 0.8 ohm and
200 ohm respectively. Estimate the efficiency of the motor
when the input current is 32A.

motor has a rotor resistance and reactance per phase equal to
0.01 ohm and 0.1 ohm respectively. Determine:
i) Starting torque
ii) Slip at which maximum torque will occur
iii) Speed at which maximum torque will occur
iv) Maximum torque

phase Induction motor.
c A 10KW, 400V, 4 pole delta connected squirrel cage L3 CO3 2 06
induction motor gave the following test results.
No load test: 400V, 8A, 250W.
Blocked rotor test: 90V, 35A, 1350W.
DC resistance per phase of stator is 0.6 ohm. Calculate
equivalent circuit parameters.
