Student Research Policies and Guidelines
STUDENT RESEARCH
Before student/s proceed with the research activity, they will submit a research
proposal that will initially screen and approve by their Research Advisers. The
RESEARCH PROPOSAL FORM is utilize before student can continue with his/her
research undertakings.

2. Ensures that students enrolled in the course and are formed in groups (if
required);

Typing:
1. Use only quality bond paper: 8-1/2 x 11", and preferably substance 18 to 20
bond.
3. Use large type letters and black ink for the text. Font: Arial size 12"
4. The report's margins (but not necessarily visible) should follow these spacing:
top, right and bottom - 1"
left - 1.5”
5. The textual materials of your work should be typed double-spaced, except for a
very long list of items/materials, tables and figures which you could typed single-
spaced.
6. As much as possible, do not divide words at the end of the lines. However, a
few run-over spaces could be accepted.
7. Type postscripts after the last word of your sentence. When you have to mention
several references in a sentence, place their superscripts instead after each
name reference.
1. The student who underwent research study hands in the required number of
copies for research proposal to the panelist at least five (5) working days before
the defense.
2. The researcher defends the proposal before a panel duly constituted for the
purpose. He/she must secure and fill-up application for final defense. Before the
faculty in charge and the department head sign the Application for final defense,
the student must present a full draft of his/her research study.
Defense proper:
The oral defense is a formal academic activity. As such, proper decorum should be
maintained during and after the proceedings.
1. The student-leader introduces the proponents who are dressed in business attire.
2. The proponent leads the opening prayer.
3. The chairman of the defense panel introduces the panel members.
4. The proponents present the highlights (abstract) of the study.
5. After the proponent’s presentation, the panel chair opens and moderates the
panel discussion/oral defense.
6. The panel chairman formally ends the defense and the panel then evaluates, in
private, the performance of the proponent’s response to the panelists’ questions.
7. After the panel deliberation, the chair of the panel calls back the proponents to
announce the result of the defense.
8. The criteria of oral defense are as follows:

The revised version of the research study must be submitted to the adviser not later
than two weeks from the time of defense. Students unable to submit the revised
research/feasibility study within the prescribed period shall be deemed to have failed the
final defense. As such, the student needs to repeat the entire research study. The
student must submit the following to the department:
