RCV Control Solenoid Valve, BOV Control Solenoid
RCV Control Solenoid Valve, BOV Control Solenoid
RCV Control Solenoid Valve, BOV Control Solenoid
Description
RCV (Recirculation Valve) Control Solenoid Valve is installed on the cooling pan motor top and operates the RCV actuator which
controls the bypass passage of the turbocharger compressor.
When the throttle valve is closed during engine running [Tipout], crash noise of the impeller will occur because of rapid
increasing of the boost pressure. So, in this case, in order to prevent this phenomenon, ECM maintains the appropriate boost
pressure by opening the bypass passage.

Inspection
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect the RCV connector.
3. Measure resistance between the RCV terminals 1 and 2.
4. Check that the resistance is within the specification.
Specification:Refer to "Specification"
Removal
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the battery negative () cable.
2. Remove the air duck (A).
3. Disconnect the cooling pan control connector (A) and cooling pan & RCV extension connector (B) from the bracket.
4. Disconnect the RCV control solenoid valve connector (A) and vapor hoses (B).
5. Remove the installation bolts (C) and then RCV control solenoid valve (D).

Component Location
1. RCV
General Description
RCV (Recirculation Valve) is mounted on top of the intercooler innet pipe. It functions as a controler of bypass passage for turbo
charger compressor.
If the throttle body gets closed suddenly during engine running, boost pressure gets higher. RCV prevents this high pressure air
from moving reversely and making an impact noise with impeller of compressor by sending this high pressure air into compressor.
RCV Control Solenoid Valve
DTC Description
If there is Open in RCV circuit, ECM sets DTC P0033.
Component Inspection
1. IG "OFF" and disconnect RCV connector.
2. Measure resistance between power and control terminals of RCV connector.(Component side)
Specification :29.7 ± 1.4 Ω (20°C(68°F))

3. Is the measured resistance within specification?
▶ Substitute with a known good ECM and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace
ECM and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
