INTRODUCTION
REVIEW OF LITERATURE
The first five-year plan (1951–1956) gave emphasis to the growth of agriculture, but it did
not leave enough room for the development of other sectors, such as cotton and woollen.

were given precedence over textiles in the fourth five-year plan (1969–1974). The sixth five-

Overall, the objective of the study is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the market
opportunities and challenges in the garment sector in India and develop effective strategies to
