A. General requirements :
1. Visa application form duly completed and signed; Welcome to VFS Global | vfsglobal
2. Passport valid for at least the duration of the D visa you’re applying for(12 months);
3. Copy of the data page of the passport together with all pages having visas and stamps;
4. Two (2) passport sized photos with white background and not older than 6months;
5. Non-refundable visa application fee to be paid upon submission of visa application;
6. If without scholarship : Proof of payment of the contribution fee
As of March 2015, the processing of visa D applications will require payment of an extra
contribution to be deposited directly in a bank account in Belgium prior to the submission

B. Supporting documents :
Proof of registration
Attestations taken into consideration to prove that you are a regular student in a higher
education establishment organized, recognized or subsidized by the public authorities:
➢ the attestation of registration as a regular student in a program oof courses of university
or non-university higher education, or
➢ the attestation of admission or pre-registration in a program of courses of university or non-
university higher education. This document must specify the conditions accompanying the
definitive registration, or
➢ the attestation of registration for an admission examination (a test or set of tests which
must be passed before registration), or
➢ attestation of registration for a preparatory year for higher education in a public institution.
Proof that you satisfy the conditions for access to higher education
➢ diploma or a study certificate giving access to Belgian higher education (secondary school
certificate or higher education diploma).
If under 18
➢ proof of the authorization of his parents or, if applicable, or the person exercising
guardianship with apostille.

Proof of financial means
The minimum amount of means of subsistence is indexed each year. For the 2024-2025 academic
year, this amount is 803 € net/ month.

➢ Bank transfer
Some universities allow/require their students to deposit money into their bank account for
the first year of study. They then transfer this amount, in monthly installments, to an
account opened by the student when he/she arrives in Belgium. The Immigration Office
accepts this payment as valid proof of sufficient means of subsistence on condition that the
student presents in her/his visa application a document from the university attesting the
payment of a sum of money covering the first year of studies and indicating that “an amount
equivalent to that which a student must have each month will be transferred to the student's
account”.

the employment contract, valid for at least one academic year or the
planned duration of studies, i.e. 12 months

o Proof of solvency: bank certificate with statements for the last 6 months
Insurance
➢ Proof of insurance: Proof that the applicant has or will have health insurance in Belgium.
o Travel health insurance that is valid for at least 3 months in Belgium
Medical certificate
➢ Medical Certificate attesting that you are not carrying any of the diseases which might
endanger public health, from one of the Embassy’s certified doctors: Visa for Belgium
if you live in India | FPS Foreign Affairs - Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation
National PCC
➢ Issued by the central authorities (passport bureau) atmost6 months before the visa
application, with apostille to be submitted if 18 years old and above
Remarks:
Besides the set of original documents you have to make TWO sets of photocopies of all documents
mentioned above.
Documents have to be arranged in the above order and are to be submitted in 3 separate files.
Additional documents, even if not featured in the list above, may be required by the Embassy.
If the documents are written in a language other than German, English, French or Dutch, the
documents must be accompanied by sworn translation into one of these languages.
ANNEX
STUDENTS IN NON-RECOGNIZED INSTITUTIONS (PRIVATE SCHOOLS)
Non-recognized institutions are schools that are not organized, recognized or subsidized by the
Belgian government. Your school will be able to inform you if the Belgian Ministry of Education has
recognized it or not. When in doubt, please provide the additional documents to avoid the loss of
valuable time.
Required documents:
The same documents will be required as for a student in a recognized institution (see above). In
addition to that, the student MUST PRESENT the following:
1. A statement of the results obtained during the last academic year, issued by the institution
visited, and any diploma, certificate or pass certificate obtained after secondary education
2. Proof of sufficient knowledge of the language in which the courses are given, namely: a certificate
from the institution of secondary education that issued the diploma, stating the number of hours of
courses attended per week in this language and the results obtained, or certificate of passing
computerized tests of knowledge of this language, the quality of which is internationally recognized
(eg TOEFL for English), or a certificate issued after additional training in this language.
3. If it is a professional training course: an employer's certificate showing the need to follow the
chosen study
