ROBOTICS

 ASIMO
What is Robotics? Made by: Honda, Height: 1.2m
 It is the branch of engineering and science that deals with the ASIMO stands for: Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility, it also takes
design, construction, operation, and application of robots. its name from robotic visionary Isaac Asimov.
What is Robot?
 The word 'robot' was coined by the Czech writer Karel Capek
from the Czech word for forced labor.

 It is a system that contains sensors, control systems,

manipulators, power supplies and software all working together
to perform a task.
Essential Characteristics  ECO-BE

 Sensing model of thumb sized micro robot "Eco-Be".
 Movement
 Intelligence
Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through in action,
allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings,
except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.  AIBO
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such
Made by: Sony (Japan), Height: 27cm
protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
AIBO stands for: Artificial Intelligent Robot
Three Laws of Robotics:
4. The Three Laws of Robotics are a set of rules devised by the
science fiction author Isaac Asimov. The rules were introduced in
his 1942 short story "Runaround“ and become widely recognized
concept in the field of robotics.
5. The essence of the three laws of robotics is to ensure that robots
behave ethically and safely in their interactions with humans.
Robot Category
 Industrial Robot  NAO
- (pronounced now) is an autonomous, programmable humanoid
robot developed by Aldebaran Robotics, a French robotics company
headquartered in Paris.
- The robot's development began with the launch of Project Nao in
2004.
 House hold Robot: Roomba and Braava jet® - On 15 August 2007, Nao replaced Sony's robot dog Aibo as the robot
used in the RoboCup Standard Platform League (SPL), an international
robot soccer competition.

 Educational Robot
Why use a robot?
 Cost effectiveness: Using robots for certain task can be cost-
effective in the long run, as they can work for longer hours
without getting tired, and don’t require breaks, salaries, or other
 Healthcare Robot
benefits.
Using the Remote Catheter Manipulation System (RCMS), Surgeons
 Efficiency: Robots can perform task with speed and precision,
perform heart surgery on a patient while not in the operating room.
which can improve productivity and efficiency in various
industries.
 Safety: Robots can be used for dangerous or hazardous task that
could be risky for humans, such as handling radioactive
materials, chemical spills, or working in extreme environments
 MQ-9 Reaper and Bayraktar TB2 Drones like outer space or deep sea.
Commonly used Components and Devices:

What is Arduino?
 Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-
to-use hardware and software. Arduino boards are able to read
inputs - light on a sensor, a finger on a button, or a Twitter
 Motor Driver Shield: message - and turn it into an output - activating a motor, turning
on an LED, publishing something online.
 You can tell your board what to do by sending a set of
instructions to the microcontroller on the board. To do so you
use the Arduino programming language (based on Wiring), and
the Arduino Software (IDE), based on Processing.

 Long Range IR Presence Sensor:  In 2005, building upon the work of Hernando Barragán
(creator of Wiring), Massimo Banzi and David Cuartielles
created Arduino, an easy-to-use programmable device for
interactive art design projects, at the Interaction Design
Institute Ivrea in Ivrea, Italy.
