GUIDELINES FOR SUMMER

VACATIONS
Dear Parents/Guardians,

It’s summer… that time of the year when teachers bid farewell to students. As children set out on
summer adventures, here are some tips to keep students physically busy and mentally active during
long summer days.

 Staying fit! Give your summer a healthy start by promoting healthy eating and an active lifestyle.
Limit processed food and sugary drinks. Children should get at least 60 minutes of active play each
day.

 Explore outside! Being outside in nature is important for all students. See what you discover about
the area around your house.

 Playing together builds bonds: Playing board games can bring your family and friends together.
Students will learn to have patience while taking turns.

 Limit screen time: Students should know when to turn the TV, computers, tablets, smartphones,
and other electronic gadgets off. You should not have more than half an hour of screen time every
day. Art and crafts provide alternative ways to help connect with each other e.g. painting and art
projects made from recycled materials.

 Reading hour: Reading is one of the best habits we can develop during summer break. It increases
concentration and focus and the ability to empathize with others.

 Develop the family custom of eating together: Make at least one meal a day a special and pleasant
family time. You can set the table and learn table manners, such as not talking with a full mouth,
using a napkin, and not reaching across another person’s plate, so you can spend quality time with
your family.

Part B is a revision worksheet.
1. Do the homework on A4 size sheets.
2. Number the questions in serial order.
3. Clearly mention your name and section on your holiday homework.
Part A
History of Math Research Report
Description: For this project, students will research and present a famous individual or civilization
and their contributions to the field of mathematics. The research report has to be done on A4 size
sheets. Clearly mention the name of the individual/ civilization and explain how their contributions
led to the development of the field of mathematics. The report can be in handwritten or printed
form. Include fun facts, pictures, etc. to make your research report interesting.
Here are a few great resources for inspiring students to learn about some lesser-known
mathematicians and their amazing contributions to mathematics:

Expand Your Mathematical Skills
Get better at Math. Get better at everything
Summer vacations are a great opportunity for every student to polish their mathematical skills. Given
below are links to the websites containing helpful material related to the concepts of number
patterns, algebra, area, and perimeter, fractions, and decimals. The websites contain worksheets
available in PDF format that are free to download. Work at your own pace and try to practice/ solve
the maximum number of worksheets.
