Templates!
For years, I have been thriving in the music industry with the ultimate trick up my sleeve
that saves me and my clients valuable time when it's game time. Not only does it
demonstrate my readiness and respect for our collaborative efforts in the studio, but
templates are also one of the easiest and most underutilized tools in music creation.
So, why settle for mediocrity when you can achieve success with this game-changing
weapon?"
Are you intrigued by the idea of a template and eager to improve your recording
and mixing efficiency?
It's a smart move, but let's be real: having a top-notch template is not enough!
You also need to know how to use it effectively. That's where gain staging and
routing come into play. Before diving into your template, take some time to set
your levels and understand your mix busses. This ensures that you're starting
with a clean, optimized slate.
Once you have a solid foundation, you can confidently utilize your template to its
full potential. So, are you ready to learn exactly how to use a template?
Check out this video I made where I go into detail on how to create a template from
scratch. How to Create a Pro Tools Template From Scratch

When it comes to processing background vocals, there are a few key differences from
lead vocals.
However, with the right techniques, you can achieve a similar sound. Here's how to do
it: send your background vocals to the same bus as your lead vocals. Then, on the
insert track for your background vocals, you can use modulation plug-ins, which help
your vocals sound wider and more dynamic within the stereo field. My personal favorites
are the Double Two by Waves or Micro Shift by Sound Toys.
By also panning your background vocals, you can make them blend well with your lead
vocals for a powerful and dynamic vocal mix. With these simple tricks, your background
vocals can be just as impressive as your lead vocals!
So, elevate your background vocals and adlibs with my personal plugin chain and settings!
With my proven plugin chain, your background vocals and adlibs will stand out with clarity and
depth…
Plus, I'm including all of my settings so you can start using them in your own tracks today. Are
you ready to unlock the power of professional-grade background vocals and adlibs?
